They talk the talk but don't walk the walk

Pros

The collaborative care model is a great way to increase access to mental health services. The CEO is genuinely a kind person who wants to create a positive culture in the company. They entice employees with bonuses, free lunches, and incentives such as gift cards (for things like positive reviews!).

Cons

Unfortunately, the clinical leadership is just as dysfunctional and toxic as any other behavioral health organization out there. They are (over)reactionary and manipulative in their messaging to the BHMs (another review called it gaslighting and that is fairly accurate). There is nothing 'radically different' about over the top micromanagement. They call it 'support', but it is really about control and an overall sense of mistrust from the top down. They talk a lot about self care, but the BHMs have to go to work early, stay late, and work through lunch to meet the expectations and requirements of their workload. If you are not willing to work through lunch, then you are not the right one for them (direct quote). To be successful at the company, you have to 'drink the kool- aid' (another direct quote). They are only open to feedback if you are a cheerleader, different perspectives are not appreciated or tolerated. They treat most employees as disposable which is why there is a high rate of turnover. The company only focuses on retaining the BHMs because it disrupts revenue if they leave. The leadership is all about the money. They use buzzwords like 'psychological safety'. However, it is not possible to have psychological safety in an organization where the top leaders berate former employees in company wide meetings and openly share the reasons for firing or pushing out employees when they are deemed 'no longer a good fit'. Communication within the organization is poor which leads to confusion and disjointed operational functioning. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing most of the time. They aspire to be innovative, but are stuck on a cookie cutter approach to providing services from state to state.

Firstly, I want to thank you for sharing feedback about your specific experience here at evolvedMD. Being so wildly dispersed across multiple regions, there will always be areas within the business where we can improve upon, and I would hope that in the future, your experience is reflective of the culture across most of our teams. We have a variety of voices across the organization, and we value the feedback and ideas people are willing to share across different backgrounds, experiences, and expertise. We aspire to have a team of people who are excited about who we are, what we do, and the impact our work has on patient care. As people experience growth and change within their careers, it's totally natural for some individuals to conclude that they might not feel as aligned or connected to the vision and mission as they once did. We want what is best for everyone. We are proud to offer multiple ways to provide feedback and keep communication channels open - whether that's directly with leadership, within Officevibe, any of our Listening Tours, or even here on Glassdoor. If ever you feel like you're not getting the right information, or feel that communication is disjointed, we encourage you to work through either the channels listed here, or by reaching out to any of our leaders (regardless of reporting structure). Every leader at evolvedMD would be more than happy to engage at any time! Thank you again for sharing these insights. I'm hopeful for the future, and that your experience here improves over time. - Spencer Pierce, VP of People

Pros

-being able to work within the primary care setting and communicating with the doctors, helps the patient get the full treatment -supervision was always available and I felt supported by my manager

Cons

-once a month therapy is not enough for any patient when it comes to therapy and you are “catching up” instead of actually providing therapy -company emphasizes self care, but requiring clinicians to see 8-12 patients per day is not sustainable and leads to burnout

Erik Osland here. While it’s admittedly tough for me to read your review, it’s just as tough for me to respond in this online format that doesn't allow for two-way dialogue about above. Just like our model, I believe an in-person chat will lead to a more meaningful conversation that’s genuine and solutions-focused. With that, I’d love the opportunity to have a 1:1 discussion with you about your experience in a psychologically safe, judgement-free environment. Please know, I am proud of the company we've built, our leaders, our clinical model, and a culture that many find make us a stellar place to work. I would appreciate the opportunity for each of us to listen, learn, and hopefully find a positive out of it all. If you’re interested, please email me at erik.osland@evolvedmd.com and I’ll be happy to set time for us. If not, wishing you the best and hope you find a better fit elsewhere.
