We are delighted to share that the Illinois Tollway’s M-6 Vehicle Maintenance Facility near Hampshire, Illinois was certified by the United States Green Building Council as LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Gold! M-6, located on US 20 near Mile Marker 42, is the third site to be addressed in the system-wide Maintenance Facility program being planned, designed and engineered by Epstein for the Illinois Tollway.
Epstein is serving as the design architect and structural engineer for the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center Transformer Building, which is part of the center's larger effort to expand. The Transformer Building will provide the essential electrical infrastructure to power the six city blocks that comprise the Javits’ campus on the west side of Manhattan. We are pleased to share that our design for O’Hare’s Emergency & Standby System Replacement Generators 1-6 has received a Green Airplane Certification from the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), which comes out of the CDA’s forward-thinking Sustainable Airport Manual. We are extremely proud of the solutions our team was able to develop for O’Hare, and are honored to be recognized by the CDA!
As Tom Scheckelhoff, our Senior Vice President and Senior Project Manager, prepares to retire, he spent this afternoon with our staff to share the ins and outs of his 52-year career in architecture with us. Since joining our firm in November of 1997, Tom has been an invaluable member of our family and has been one of main reasons our projects for his clients have been such dramatic success for Epstein. Please join us in wishing Tom the very best in his next life adventure!
We're thrilled to learn that 150 North Riverside earned the 2019 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers, recognizing the project that best illustrates superior civil engineering skills and represents a significant contribution to civil engineering progress and society! Epstein provided civil engineering services for the commercial high-rise building, which presented unique challenges due to unusual site constraints and required our engineers to get creative. Congratulations to the whole team, especially engineer of record, Magnusson Klemencic Associates, and design architect, Goettsch Partners!
The American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC-IL) recently recognized Epstein’s engineering efforts on the Seaboard Triumph Foods plant in Sioux City, Iowa. We are delighted to share that the ACEC-IL also honored our work with a Judge’s Choice Award in the Industrial and Manufacturing Processes category, which is given to the highest rated project in each of the 12 different engineering excellence categories!

Epstein is pleased to be the Associate Architect for this project, providing technical expertise and documentation of the design.
Next week is the Food Processing Suppliers Association's (FPSA) Annual Conference. Our Darrin McCormies, Director of Industrial Engineering, is attending and will also be a speaker at the MISA panel.
