Foster Epstein Moreno has created a dynamic and iconic design for O’Hare’s new Global Terminal, aiming to recapture the romance associated with air travel while reflecting the city’s cultural diversity. The team has partnered with local design and engineering talent such as the Rebuild Foundation, a Chicago-based organization that directly engages in the production of innovative arts, crafts and trades programs, founded and led by artist Theaster Gates, to work on this incredible project. With a team that is grounded in the city and backed by global expertise, we understand that Chicago is a world player, but one that doesn’t forget about its backyard. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQZWS
Today is your last chance to check out our model for the O'Hare Global Terminal submission at the Chicago Architecture Center! Our design, in partnership with Foster + Partners and JGMA, is featured at their new pop-up exhibit. Check out the models of all five designs before they're gone!
"Chances for architectural greatness are rare. Such is the opportunity Chicago has before it with one of the five plans for a new global terminal at O’Hare International Airport. "That plan, from a team led by London-based Foster + Partners architects [in conjunction with Epstein and JGMA], promises to be everything an airport should be: a precisely-honed machine for moving people and baggage; easy to get around intuitively; and an enthralling gateway to its city." Thank you, Blair Kamin, Pulitzer Prize-winning architecture critic, for your glowing review of our design and for your support! #PromisetoSoar
Repost Javits Center: "Did you know: The Javits Center’s nearly 7-acre green roof can absorb up to 7 million gallons of storm water run-off annually, while reducing heat gain throughout the building? As a result of all of our sustainable initiatives, the facility's annual energy consumption has been reduced by 26 percent." Epstein is proud to have provided an assortment of services for numerous projects during Javits' extensive renovation phase, including the green roof! The second largest of its kind in the U.S., it's home to 26 bird species, five bat species and thousands of honeybees. It's also equipped with a glass curtain wall that provides new tree-lined access along a six-block stretch of New York's 11th Avenue.
"Foster + Partners, Epstein, and JGMA propose 'theater of aviation' for Chicago O'Hare airport." Thanks for the feature, designbuild!
At 25 stories, the world's tallest modular hotel is coming to 842 Sixth Avenue within New York's NoMad neighborhood. The AC Nomad by Marriott demonstrates how modular construction has evolved. It's marked by a desire to bring the advantages of modern industrialized manufacturing to the construction sector. Instead of building everything from small components on-site, whole rooms or fractions of complete buildings are built in factories, transported to site and assembled in place. We are excited to share that Epstein is the Associate Architect for this project, providing technical expertise and documentation of the design. Epstein’s Vice President and Director of Hospitality, David Scott, AIA, shares some insights on the development of highrise hotel modular construction and our involvement on the AC Nomad:
We have been delivering custom design and engineering solutions for food plants across the nation throughout the duration of our 97-year history. We were pleased to provide design, engineering and construction administration services to help a Bolingbrook-based dry mixing and packaging plant expand to a new manufacturing facility.
