Pros

Benefits and incentives are decent.

Cons

Everything. This place makes life pretty hard and they could really care less about you as an employee. No work life balance, their PTO is a joke, and the company overall is just a mess.

Pros

None. The only good thing was that it was work from home.

Cons

Lets see where to begin. I was discriminated against for mental disabilities by my supervisor who was gaslighting me and attempting to write me up for protected areas pertaining to my disability. I went to HR regarding the Americans with Disability Act, or ADA act, a federal protectection set in place to keep me safe from this woman, got a new round of training, and attempted to get a new supe to get away from this woman, and was denied. They were ok with getting me into training a total of THREE times, but they refused to get me a new supe, which was all I really wanted so I wouldnt be targeted for having a disability. Upon getting placed in a second round of training with some people from my prior class, I found that unlike my prior trainer, who was lazy and let people sleep on the job or go AFK, this one was rude, and dictitorial in her teaching. She required people answer her in 30 seconds or she fired them. She required that people turn their cams on constantly, she mocked me for having ADA protection. She was a total tyrant and super rude. Upon 2 days in, 2 of the people from my prior group quit, including a pregnant woman who was so stressed out about this tyrants mannerisms she was worried, which she confided in me and gave me consent to talk about, that she would go into premature labor. She quit as this trainer didnt bother at all to give her any days off to go see her doctors, appointments she already had approved by HR. I worked with HR again to get a THIRD training class, and a temp leave, which made it hard to pay my bills as they refused to pay me during these leaves, and after all this frustration this company gave me, after all the discrimination, the HR people, who never were there when I needed them, would never return a phone call but for the next day and could only slot in like 30 mins in appointments to talk to me, fired me the very next day prior to me starting my job again for "iNApRoPriAtE bEhaViOr". Aka, getting frustrated about my trainer and my supe. Well of course, a trainer is a teacher, and is supposed to HELP GUIDE YOU. They are supposed to help TEACH you. Not to wave their power banner around to flex on you. Apparently according to ASH, they can discriminate against you for months, gaslight you into getting upset about it, document it, and then use it against you to wrongfully terminate you. I am glad I collected evidence of this harassment, as my lawyer will be very happy to see all of it. Do NOT work here.

Pros

I can not find one good thing to say.

Cons

Low pay for position, out of date programs used for processing, high expectations and workload compared to pay, "gang up" mentality (3 managers get on a conference call with you when they need to speak with you), high medical insurance cost, power tripping managers who do not know much, two faced co workers, the position does not pay well, the lowest I've seen, their expectations are too high for the programs they have you use to process these claims, the work is repetitive and isolating, there are constant system issues and the system runs slow and choppy because of the virtual environment, the training was very very minimal, the workload is high compared to the pay and the expectations, there is no real written processing manual, and I'm just saying, when I went to the facility to finish my interview etc i noticed the big beautiful shiny new facility and office but all the cars in the parking lot pretty much were old and a little beat down. That tells you this company pays horrible and spends the profits on stuff that is not needed, you don't need state of the art facilities, you need new programs to make processors jobs easier, you need to give everyone a HUGE raise, i guarantee people will take the raise over having this fluff that is in a newer facility, its just to impress business partners im sure, you need to stop micromanaging and ganging up on people, you need to pay more of the portion for the health insurance, i had a job that was $45 a paycheck for my son and I and here it is close to $300 if you don't do this unrealistic step fitness program they offer for a discount and even then its triple what i pay at my other job. This place cant keep people working and no one and i mean no one can live on what they pay per hour. their workers stay poor and the CEO's stay rich.

Thank you for your review of American Specialty Health. We are sorry to hear that you did not have a positive work experience during your time at ASH. ASH offers a host of different opportunities for all fulltime employees to get involved and stay engaged, from our diverse culture to the many training opportunities and programs. This is reflected in the high tenure of our claims department with an average of seven and a half years over the past three years. In regards to your concern with leadership, our leaders are required to participate in ASH leadership training for continued growth, self-improvement, and team-building skills. Additionally, our Total Rewards Program includes wellness benefits, paid time off, training courses, career development and a company-wide mentorship program. Our value-based incentive program ensures that employees work towards attainable health goals and are rewarded for their activity levels. We are sorry to hear you found our exercise rewards program to be unrealistic. Most of our employees are able to meet the highest level which provides a reduction in premium costs. Accommodations can be obtained through contacting human resources for those unable to participate. We invite you to send a message with additional details related to your concerns to hr@ashn.com. Thank you.
