Pros

*Industry leader with great product *Many teams with managers stand up for their people, creating an inviting and pleasant work environment *Benefits ok though slightly below similar tech companies

Cons

*If you have the misfortune of joining a team with a manager who fails to stand up for their people nor support them in any meaningful way, you won't succeed and will likely be miserable, in addition to being frequently reprimanded for expectations not previously mentioned *Internal employees openly admit on-boarding does not set one up for success & that feedback was pre-covid (this has not improved or changed in any way post-covid). *The company has made little to no efforts to provide support for the new remote work world aside from providing a fairly average (below average?) stipend for office supplies along with empty promises that they are dedicated to employee mental health & general employee wellness. *Bizarre culture (outside sales team) of competition over collaboration. Failing to offer meaningful advice/assistance to both newbies & those struggling with any aspect of the job. Unresponsive Slacks make it extremely challenging to do one's job well when requiring help/very basic answers from both team members and colleagues on other teams. General attitude of 'not my job' when it comes to helping others. * Managers set on the management style learned years ago and unwilling to change or see the need to improve/grow. A basic skill of a good manager is being able to offer unique management advice/support to individual team members rather than using a blanket approach for everyone on the team, writing off anyone who doesn't work well with their basic corporate approach which fails to consider the diversity of their team/humanity *Managers with 0 familiarity of the team member's daily tasks & demands due to 0 experience performing the role they're judging subordinates on. * A complete lack of empathy/humanity when working with an employee who differs from the norm in any way or requires *any* additional help whatsoever * While still a small to mid-size startup, Amplitude acts as if its a behemoth organization with all the politics and negatives that come with such an environment

Pros

-My teammates were amazing people and some of my best friends -The product was and still is very strong -The company culture was friendly, happy, and quirky in the early days

Cons

-Strong IC's with no management experience were chosen to run teams -Upward feedback from employees was not taken seriously -A severely disproportionate amount of women and minorities were fired for things like culture fit or clashes with management

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience working at Amplitude. We’re happy to hear that you both made great friendships, and believe in the future of the product; that means a lot to us. In addition to a great product and teammates, managers have a significant impact on the experience of employees — we are committed to holding our leaders accountable for creating supportive and inclusive environments within their teams. We are also committed to evolving the systems for how we collect feedback on the day-to-day experiences of our employees to ensure this is happening — and taking interventive action when it is not. We believe that a culture supportive of diverse perspectives, open dialogue & feedback is critical to our continued growth and success; this clearly wasn’t your experience, and we’re sad to hear it. If you’d like to continue the conversation with us about your experience, our door is always open — please feel free to email us at hr@amplitude.com. We really appreciate your feedback, and would like to hear more if you are willing to reach out.

Pros

The Product organization is world class and the CEO is a great human. The former CRO was the most empathetic leaders Ive worked for and the team has great vibe about it.

Cons

They hired a leader for Partnerships in December of 2022 who ran the organization into the ground with poor management and harassment of team members. Several high performing team members voluntarily left due to feeling unsupported by senior leaders despite complaints being made to HR and others on the leadership team. Turnover on the sales, marketing and partnerships is high because people turn a blind eye to culturally toxic behaviors. Did they even do a reference check?
