Pros

The product isn't going away anytime soon with a dedicated following that prefer Amplitude's analytics. There are a lot of good people at the company that look out for one another and never hesitate to help each other succeed. Comp and benefits are very competitive.

Cons

Leadership is toxic. Goals are never based on data, focus areas come and go like toilet paper and teams are under resourced to the point of insanity. Transparency is preached but feedback and criticism are never tolerated.

Definition of a toxic workplace

Pros

There are some amazing, hardworking people in the org...

Cons

...but they don't make up for toxic leaders lacking EQ and any understanding of who is performing and who is passing the buck. The layoffs in April made things worse and ripped a hole into an already sinking ship. The number of unhappy employees who have no work-life balance or trust in management is high, and the good people who are holding things together are leaving or are one foot out the door.

Pros

Compensation and benefits are competitive. Generally flexible with WFH although that may not continue.

Cons

Amplitude may be a decent place to work if you are an Engineer, as all 3 founders have an Engineering background and this is the only group that has stable leadership. Amplitude seems to get a new CMO and Head of HR each year, and sales leadership rarely lasts long. In the g&a division there has been a surge in turnover, and very few employees plan to stay long term. This portion of the business seemingly operates under the belief that if you are not miserable you are not working hard enough. Executive leadership likes texting their directs late at night with endless unreasonable demands, and then the misery flows down to the rest of the organization.
