Pros

Good ESOP benefit mostly driven by other Amsted enterprises.

Cons

Current management has opted to replace many employees with sycophantic "Yes Men". Business jargon is plentiful to cover for lack of leadership competence. Quarterly meetings are long, drawn and boring affairs. Employees encouraged to grow without being given a sense of direction. The product itself has major quality issues impacting customers experience, mostly due to a poorly hired and treated labor force at the plant level. Workers not valued unless they are a successful engineer. If you work in a business or manufacturing related function you are not viewed as an equal.

Pros

- You get recognized if you work hard and produce well - Supervisors are pretty approachable, pretty understanding. - Not too micro manage-y in my position. - The folks who are knowledgeable will almost always be open to helping you learn (products, process, etc.) - Biggest Bonus I ever got. - Benefits are great, Health Insurance is good once you meet the deductible. - Work/life balance is what you make it.

Cons

- You have to be a goddamn moron to be fired, so a lot of people can get away with doing nothing and putting more work on you. - Hard work is rewarded with more work. - Capped raise at 4%, while consistently boasting at meetings the increase in revenue. - The Health Insurance offered is quite tedious to work with. - Some departments will squabble about who's responsible for some work, might end up on you if you don't fight hard enough. - Work/life balance is what you make it.

BAC not for me

Pros

Company pays a very competitive wage, excellent benefits, ESOP is great program. The people at corporate headquarters and at the plants are all great and want to do best for the company. The company has been somewhat successful in a tough market

Cons

BAC preaches that the people are the most important. This may have been true a while ago, but the new management is a numbers driven group and the people take a back seat. The different departments still do not interact well and this hurts the plants.
