Pros

- Direct managers (at least in engineering) are supportive and genuinely invested in your growth - Smart colleagues who care about their craft - Interesting problem space in field service management

Cons

- Blame culture. A p0 incident resulted in termination of a engineer (with significant institutional knowledge and tenure) rather than a blameless postmortem - Recent layoffs (3%) that occurred outside of the normal layoff cadence (annual layoffs around Fall) seem more reckless than strategic. Key engineers working on important projects for a strategic customer were laid off - Senior leadership bypassed the management chain to pressure ICs directly into working weekends and late nights to learn AI tools - AI token usage tracked as a performance metric. Engineers are monitored, not trusted - Engineers are seen as a cost center, not a value driver - Significant technical debt baked into the product with no clear plan to address it - Large gap between what senior leadership understands and what the eng org actually experiences day-to-day - In office requirements are not the best, taking into account LA traffic - Work life balance varies across squads - High turnover. If you've been with BuildOps for at least a year, your tenure is greater than 50% of the company.

Pros

- hybrid (3 days a week in office T,W,TH) - free delicious lunches delivered to office - culture in sales pit is fun, casual, welcoming, filled with young adults - management was great, so kind, truly invested in your success, understanding, loved all of the SDR managers!

Cons

- low base pay (though probably industry standard ish & commission obviously helps) - high volume cold calling/metrics to hit (but doable) - sales pit is small/crowded, hard to focus sometimes if you prefer quiet setting - training was good but felt fast. i didn't feel ready to start calling/speaking about product yet just a few weeks in

Pros

Some coworkers are genuinely supportive and just as motivated to succeed, especially other SDRs who are trying to make the best of the situation. The product itself has market demand, which makes conversations with prospects easier than selling something with no use case.

Cons

This role has an extremely high churn rate, among SDRs, with many reps being placed on PIPs and terminated before being given a fair chance to hit quota, often without earning commission. Expectations are aggressive and unsustainable, with many reps making 150 to 250 calls a day while repeatedly contacting the same prospects and accounts with little to no cool-off period. SDRs are encouraged to call back within days or a week and in some cases use a different name so prospects believe they are speaking to someone new, which creates ethical concerns and frustration on both sides. The environment feels more like a frat or bro-style call center than a professional sales organization. The sales pit frequently plays inappropriate and provocative music, which has made people in other departments, especially some women, uncomfortable. Training and support are minimal, management relies heavily on pressure and extreme favoritism, and SDRs are treated as disposable rather than developed. This may serve as a short-term crash course for brand new grads, but it is not a healthy or sustainable environment for experienced professionals seeking stability, mentorship, or long-term growth. Finally, it is unmotivating when there are favored reps who only hit around ten percent of quota and still get promoted over SDRs who are outperforming them. The general rule of thumb is that if you do not move out of the corporate account pool within the first month or two, you are essentially doomed, as you will burn through your accounts and eventually be fired when you miss quota. This is the
