A Surprised experience

Pros

CTG has 3 salary packages available when you get on board. I was surprised to find that they have a straight hourly salary(highest per hour), a paid vacation/holiday package, and a full benefit package for the employee to choose from. That was surprised in that I didn't expect to have benefits. There is also courses through CTG you can take online.. Manager is always available to answer any questions I have or will point me in the right direction for help. Its a great Company to get your feet wet in a different career opportunity. On boarding process was pretty seamless.

Cons

lower salaries than I expected. no notice that the contract is up and was renewed.

Pros

- Good 401k match - My position offered competitive pay for the area and was a remote, work from home gig - The clients include very large, well-respected tech companies

Cons

- Poor health insurance offerings, no vacation or PTO offered. - No wage increases in the 3 years I was contracting through CTG. - Communication was non-existent. My point of contact changed and I was never informed. My final supervisor with the client didn't hear from CTG (to check on my progress, or anything) in the 18 months I reported to her. - When the client ended my contract CTG was unaware for two days (I was finishing up a few things for the client and had a potential transfer which is why I had waited to inform them), then sent me a letter in the mail the next business day stating they were "unable to locate additional work" and were ending my contract with CTG. No bench time was offered. I suspect they didn't look very hard in that 18 hour period.

Pros

Flexible work shifts allowed for me to come in later (mainly because of traffic going into RTP) and I could leave when I wanted to.

Cons

CTG came in and fired 1/3 of the 80 or so people in my lab (per directive from IBM) for the Pure Flex project that was already running behind. After this, they then *forced* us to work a minimum of 6 days a week and at one point actually scheduled us for 7 days a week. We were hourly so it was said to be *legal* but we definitely had to come in at least 1 day out of every weekend for 8 months. What it boils down to is 1/3 of the team was fired with practically no notice and then the remaining people had to work 6-7 days a week for 8 months in order to not get cut as well. This was a very dissatisfying experience and I left the company after they refused to give me a raise after pushing for it for almost 6 months. My team was not making much money for all of this effort. The average salary to work under these conditions on my team was $15-$19 an hour.
