Bad experience with an awful employer

Pros

They sometimes have remote roles

Cons

Everything! The pay is very low, they don't give salary increases, they expect you to work overtime without pay if you are salary. Benefits are expensive, turn over is high! This is not a good company to work for. They are not invested in their employees, no holiday party or even a small bonus. There were 2 CEO's while I was there. I'm honestly embarrassed to have this company on my resume. They can follow up and add how wonderful they are, but, don't believe it. They've sold real estate to find money, the stock price is laughable. I will be surprised if they're around much longer. Avoid!

Pros

CTG smoothly grandfathered me in after the company I had been previously working for closed. They were very accommodating to the benefits I had previously received and offered new tools.

Cons

Their Insurance benefits are not the best, they have very strict attendance rules. CTG also had less paid time off than other companies in the same field.

Pros

This was my first employer after being IT in the Army. CTG sprung for me before I had finished my degree and trusted my military experience which I appreciated. The client was pleased with my work but never hired me on due to eventual outsourcing.

Cons

Strict noncompete can make finding work with other staffers difficult. Benefits were expensive but at least they were available! Some recruiters/staffers offer no benefits at all.

Flexibility, Stability, Autonomy and Trust

Pros

Collaborative environment. Autonomy to get your job done, but "being busy" is not enough - results are what matters. This works for some, but is not a great fit for others. Remote work opportunities in most areas of the company. Great people and strong teams. A lot of employees with significant tenures speaks to the stability of many jobs at CTG - both billable and OH. Growing number of opportunities for new team members. Offer benefits packages for the individual, individual + spouse, or family for FT employees.

Cons

Benefits packages could be stronger, but not all that different than those offered by other "like" companies. Opportunities for growth can be limited in some areas of the company and/or slow to achieve.

Thank you for the positive feedback! We agree that CTG encourages an environment where employees can apply and develop their strengths throughout their careers. Our extensive and diverse client network, as well as our diverse and growing number of overhead and support positions, allows us to map candidates’ distinct qualifications and individual desires to a multitude of open positions. Successfully locating positions that meet candidates’ work environment, compensation, and professional development requirements is important to us. We’re happy to see that employees recognize our commitment to doing so.

A company to avoid

Pros

There are few positives to working for CTG.

Cons

This is a churn and burn staffing agency. They’ve lost most reputable clients. They focus on low paying and high stress temporary positions. Management overbearing. Minimum holidays, expensive benefits plan.

While we appreciate all feedback we receive through this forum, we disagree that there are few positives in working for CTG. We believe there are many “pros”, including our nationwide team of experienced recruiters who diligently align a candidate’s skill set to current openings. Recruiters seek to understand a candidate’s qualifications in order to place him/her a position that not only meets our clients’ needs, but also enriches and advances the individual’s career. Another “pro” is the loyal client base CTG has established over the past 50+ years we’ve been in business. Utilizing an external surveying company, we receive direct feedback from our clients that allows us to ensure we are always living up to our guiding principle of, “Reliability Matters”. Our clients trust in CTG’s dedication to being the most reliable IT services provider, and it’s that client trust which has shaped our company and how we operate. A final “pro” includes CTG’s commitment to driving employee satisfaction. This commitment has recently landed CTG on the Best Places to Work in healthcare list by Modern Healthcare for the fifth time. In this survey, our employees expressed their appreciation for CTG’s professional development opportunities, comprehensive benefits packages, and positive work environment. We were also commended for our lower-than-average voluntary employee turnover rate. We recognize that it’s difficult to deliver complete satisfaction to each CTG employee, but we sure try our hardest to do so and have processes in place for when an employee is not satisfied. We encourage any employee with concerns to discuss them with a CTG manager in a timely manner so we can work towards a suitable resolution.
