Bad at all levels

Pros

I think there are some good people at the management level, but they don’t see how bad some of their peers are.

Cons

The company is poorly run at every level. The culture is all about jumping through hoops for management and showing utter disrespect for lower level workers. They’re facing insolvency due to poor decisions. PTO is combined with sick leave. People mention cheap healthcare as a pro but that’s only for single coverage. For a family, the cost is outrageous. People are placed in management roles without any experience or training managing people and it shows. Run, don’t walk, away!

Pros

Benefits (while employed)! Hands down the best that any company I've worked for has offered. WFH for most corporate positions (until they let you go). Free pretty high quality swag on a regular basis. Friendly co-workers. True open door policy and access to executives.

Cons

Laid off 1000+ employees in 2023 (50%+ of its workforce). 350+ in January and 600+ in December. The 'genius' brain trust at the executive level decided to close 2 production facilities in Reno,NV and Charlottesville, VA to consolidate production in Dallas,TX in January 20203. What a nightmare that was! They moved some folks from those facilities to Dallas to help with production just to close that last Dallas facility in December 11 months later and those folks are out of luck after committing to Custom Ink. So now they outsource their printing to other network print shops which means from here on out they aren't even doing what they are supposed providing value to being the "industry leader". "Custom Ink is all about culture and it's 'Inkers'". Custom Ink does not pay out for remaining PTO days to 'Inkers' who they claim to value when they leave. This is outright stealing from employees who have earned that time. They use a Healthcare FSA but Custom Ink keeps the remaining balance that we contributed to after we leave. The culture is pretty cult-y. It's hard to explain and it may be a good fit for a select few but there is no company loyalty regardless of your tenure. Folks who have committed 20 years were laid off. Think of the Inkers who uprooted their lives to move to Dallas from Reno or Charlottesville just to be canned again all of a sudden. Senior management will spin bad news with a smile and for some reason all of the lemmings follow along blindly to their demise. They will tell everyone to focus on margin improvements but then introduce major projects for the short-handed staff to work on which are high-cost, high-risk and low-value negatively impacting margin. These poor decisions impacted 1000 souls in 2023. They have implemented this new trend companies are employing to performance plan employees out with an unreasonable scoring scale and goals. This is being used by a lot of top companies to force employees out without the hassle of a mass separation package to nudge them to leave on their own.
