Pros

Thanks to name recognition, this will look good on your resume after you run for the exit. If you are in the UK or Singapore, you might get lucky enough to work on a cool product. There are ample opportunities for advancement (because your peers and managers will leave the company at record rates), as long as you enjoy additional responsibilities without a title change or pay/benefit increase. The company actively prioritizes diversity and inclusion in a cultural sense, but that accommodation abruptly halts when it comes to work-life balance.

Cons

Dyson is in serious decline and is riding on it's name alone. They struggle to fulfill the minimum operations of a functional company; vendors are paid late or not at all, department budgets are not set until Q2 of a given year, IT and Customer Service are entirely outsourced and take 10x longer to fix anything, many approvals are required to go all the way up to C-suite who sit overseas, and the "company" is divided into dozens of legally separate business entities that cannot act cohesively. You will be instructed to do X, and then steps 1-3 required to do that will be blocked by another business unit or outsourced agent. The company is also privately owned, so the annual performance metrics will be based on how much money James Dyson wants to make rather than strategic goals. The culture will not save you either. Dyson is unable to retain high quality talent, teams are consistently overworked, and vacant roles are not filled due to hiring freezes. A revolving door of CEOs will land with a small splash, but they seem to have no impact and the company is driven by James Dyson personally. If you want to fit in, you should never criticize his decisions even in a polite manner. The crown jewel of poor culture decisions is their approach for the Return to Office policy. Despite record-breaking performance during the pandemic and excellent strides in remote work and smart hybrid collaboration, Dyson has opted for a top-down RTO policy without team-to-team flexibility, all while pinching pennies on office amenities and maintenance. Of course, regional leadership are blatantly exempt from the requirement, and we continue to hire leaders that do not even live in Chicago. Mandating employees to return to threadbare offices where the technology is broken, décor is bland, leaders are frequently absent, and amenities are frequently cut has taken a big toll on employee morale and the results speak for themselves. After the huge success of 2020, 2021-2023 all fell markedly short of performance metrics. Employees are now paying the price; over 15% of all staff in the USA, Mexico, and Canada markets were laid off at the end of March. The company will try to compensate by leaning even more heavily on outsourced support, and quality will drop even further as a result. Do not accept a job offer from Dyson; as the newest employee, you'll be on the chopping block for the next round of layoffs.

Pros

There are no goals. Dyson has laid off hundreds if US based support yesterday. Very few are left and know that it is a matter of time.

Cons

Dyson started off with all US based support. As the years went by out of the country 3rd party support has been contracted with them and little by little has taken over. However they kept US and CA based support but did not hire more. The last year or year and a half the overtake by these 3rd party companies was fierce. But the main problem with them is the support they give is atrocious. They care very little about the customers and they care very little about the company. They lie to customers and they are bleeding the company dry by giving away things that they shouldn't. In my position I speak to the customers who have had issues with these 3rd party reps and it is all the same thing I hear with all of them. They complain about them not understanding these 3rd party reps, that they don't know how to do their job, they lie to customers. I have seen countless posts asking what happened to Dysons customer support. I am sad because I devoted many years of my life with Dyson only to see it end like this.

Pros

A brand forged by innovative individuals, outstanding products, and a visionary leader represents an excellent opportunity to enhance your resume. Engaging with such a brand allows you to be associated with the creators of a remarkable success story—a brand that consistently surpasses growth expectations.

Cons

Dyson has evolved into a company where its history of success is not cherished and analyzed but rather disparaged, which undermines the sustained growth for which Dyson was once renowned. The frequent changes in leadership have fostered a culture where the appreciation of past achievements is overshadowed by a lack of respect for the principles that contributed to Dyson's prominence. New leadership often opts to dismiss previous insights in favor of introducing changes and impressive PowerPoint presentations. Consequently, the organization tends to celebrate those who excel in meetings rather than those who effectively execute plans. While Dyson remains an attractive name to enhance a resume, reflecting a legacy of innovation, it no longer offers the practical experience of success that candidates might expect from its reputation. The era when one could gain valuable lessons from Dyson's success seems, for the time being, to be behind us.
