Pros

Great co workers who are dedicated and care about doing a great job and keeping members happy. The benefits are great and working from home a huge plus!

Cons

Getting upper management to listen to those in the trenches on the front line. We may be in the trenches at the bottom of the food chain but we know our jobs and need to be involved in true focus group sessions in which upper management can truly see how it's done. Anyone can manage a department or company but a smart executive will demonstrate a true desire to listen to those who do the job everyday and will value contributions of those on the front line to improve service to clients and their members. Happy employees will be loyal, work even harder!

We want to thank you for your detailed review and for your contributions to our success. We especially appreciate you calling out the team camaraderie at Express Scripts and our flexible work schedules and work-at-home programs. Whether you’re working next to your colleagues in our office, or you’re connected virtually, everyone is part of the team and makes a difference in the lives of the patients we care for every day. We regularly put employees’ ideas and opinions into action through our employee engagement survey and we are currently developing programs that help strengthen and streamline the employee feedback process, as well as fun contests that help generate new ideas. Leadership happens at all levels at Express Scripts and some of the best ideas we have come from those who work most directly with our patients and clients. Please share your ideas with your leaders and let’s keep delivering on our mission to make prescription drugs more affordable and accessible.

Pros

Turn over is very high so you my get promoted if you are willing to deal with the company

Cons

Every department that you talk to within the company feels over worked and understaffed. Some of this is due to ineffective leadership/management which is blatantly obvious in certain departments but in many cases such as account management it is a direct result of the company not wanting to staff accordingly. Account managers are stretched so thin that any new recruits who are decent get fed up and all leave. The worst part of it all is that company management KNOWS that account management is stretched thin and instructs account managers to flat out lie to their clients, telling them that they only have 10 or so accounts while in reality they have 20+. Early in the year the company decided to promote Tim Wentworth, to president. With this change we heard all about putting the client first, fixing the all the problems that integration caused and he mentioned the term "operational excellence" and how we had lots of work to do to get to where he wanted to be. Then came the 2Q earnings where Wallstreet questioned our costs and the company went right back to trying to cut costs. This fall should see even more cuts in budgets for next year and even more cuts to jobs in various parts of the company.

Pros

The best (and only reasons) to work here, is for the benefits. ESI does offer great benefits for its employees- medical, dental, 401k, etc...

Cons

ESI does not give two craps about their employees that are under managers. Call takers- whether 1st line PCA's or the escalation line of RTL's- are treated as if we don't matter at all. They don't care about work/personal life balance. The micromanage every tiny aspect of everything. God forbid you want/need to go above and beyond for a highly escalated member and need to spend an extra minute or two on the phone. Before the merge with Express Scripts, Medco cared about their employees and it showed! Since the merge, we can see such a huge difference in the way we are treated and managed. Most of the 'good reviews' are from upper management or people that don't deal with the #1 reason there's a company at all- patients.
