Pros

The other agents are a great laugh.

Cons

Pay often comes in wrong which is not something you can afford when on minimum wage. It seems to be practically impossible to get a day off you actually want off even though you have 23 days a year. You get paid so little for what you actually do you get hit with about 6 times the tags off Sky's inhouse employees and get no where near the wage or any of the extra incentives they get. Promises are almost always short lived or not done and usually only made when they need something from you like overtime. If you do some well you get nothing no reward usually not even a mention of it from a TL but as soon as one little thing is wrong you are straight into formal action. The morale amongst everyone is extremely low and everybody distrusts the senior staff. Also many of the HR policies are a joke to say the least and borderline illegal if not fully illegal often only getting away with it because no one cares enough to pull them on it. The hygeine is poor the keyboard etc are never cleaned and flu's just continually stick around because of reasons like this. Normally promotion is just for a few month to cover maternity etc and you get paid the same wage you always did and no matter how good of job you done you are straight back to the phones when the other employee is back or is done so they don't have to pay the wages of a proper new TL etc as you do it for a fraction of the cost.

Pros

Hourly rate is better than most at €9.50. Easy to make friendships. Management are friendly and mostly supportive. Can climb up the career ladder if wanted.

Cons

Not well run. Poor organisation and planning. Will approve holidays and still roster people on. A lot of pressure put on agents to reach time targets when targets are slightly unreachable.

Pros

Some of the managers are fairly nice and clearly don't like the job very much either. Management and HR are so disorganised, so many new staff are hired and so many leave each month - that for the most part its pretty easy to just keep your head down and get on with the job as well or as badly as you feel like.

Cons

Some of the managers (and others in positions of some sort of authority) are deliberately not very helpful, and a few, really need to learn how to speak to people in a civilised manner. Company refuses to provide written terms and conditions of employment (or rather, ignores repeated requests to). Make deductions from wages and/or fail to pay bonuses, usually with little explanation. They're threatening to once again stop paying staff for 'unplanned breaks' (ie. going to the toilet). At least they're warning us this time I suppose, the first I knew about it last time was when a notice went up saying that 'unplanned breaks' had been reintroduced. This rule isn't the only one that is seemingly 'subject to change' as far as this company is concerned. Trying to change shifts or book holidays can be an absolute nightmare. If there aren't enough 'hours' they simply won't do it and would rather you not be able to get home from work rather than let you finish half hour early to catch the train (if there's engineering work on and a later train has been cancelled that night). Poor pay (minimum wage) despite long hours with little downtime - combine this with being treated like dirt and it doesn't make for a particularly great job.
