Lack of leadership, collaboration opportunities lead to disappointing experience

Great peer network that is super friendly, smart, and interested in pushing the envelope despite lack of support from leadership.
Cons
Siloed leadership and a lack of clear direction from senior leaders create disparate (and often conflicting) directions. There is no interest from senior leaders to collaborate until the 11th hour or when deadlines are looming, which creates unnecessary fires and intense micromanagement that could have been avoided with more proactive involvement. While a role was accepted to build a new function for the company, it became clear that expectations changed without notice. Ultimately, I was told the role wasn't a "good fit" without any tangible rationale or examples. I was very disappointed by the experience and wished that leadership would have been more honest about what they wanted from the role before pursuing the hire. Ultimately, I left feeling like a number that's easily expendable based on how leadership felt any given day.
