Great if you like gaming and a laid back atmosphere.

Pros

The staff is fun and friendly but its a gaming culture, so if you arent into games you might lose interst. The atmosphere is laid back for the most part, but you must have customer service skills and be able to interact with people to sell the products. The best reason for a gamer is that you can check out games from the store to try out.

Cons

The only major downside is the low pay unless you can hold out as a store manager for a few years. ASM starts at $10/hour. Most SM start at 28k-30k, but have the opportunity for bonus.

Pros

If you like games its very hard not to like this job. Thats your biggest thing here is that you sell games. If you are full time the medical insurance is one of the best. Games, games, games, its very hard to get tired of it. You are always in the loop with knowledge of upcoming games and media in general. They are very flexible with your schedule and in general very laxed with rules and regulations. Its simple, dress nice, be nice to the customers and dont steal! One of the few jobs that I was excited to wake up to.

Cons

District managers are bone heads. Angry customers can be a buzz kill. The dailystruggle of new price changes, constant disorganization of your store, weekly counts. It is also very tideous to do Marketing kits every two sundays. Sometimes you have a manager who is too anal and unwilling to let the little things slide thus leading your game advisors to grow frustrated and unhappy which in turn makes your job more complicated then it should be. It should be a happy atmosphere most of the time but you do get those clowns like Dan DeMatteo who do not know what they are doing. And With that you realize its a good ol' boys club and you are out of luck.
