Pros

- the ability to spend your paycheck on video games that you probably would not purchase if you did not work there - allows for a social environment within an exciting and booming entertainment industry

Cons

- retail hours, - poor field management support, - REQUIRED 44 hrs per week for store managers is not only above the 40 required for most full-time JOBS, but it is also an understatement to what is actually required on a regular basis in order to "succeed" with this company - well below average pay!! the incentive to work is the ability to play a lot of games? - customer dissatisfaction is due more to corporate regulations than it is to low level employee incompetence - most employees are kids and a decent percentage of them give into temptation and steal from the company, usually resulting in arrest and more importantly, a much more difficult job search in the future. (This has not happened to me, but it is common and a great way to ruin a kids life for a little while)

Pros

I worked at gamestop for about 6 months- which was about 6 months too long. I had great coworkers and my manager was a dream; but my assistant manager (he who made the schedule) was a total dip. Cared less about giving the good employees more hours than he did giving his friends better hours. Eventually he got the boot and was replaced by an evil Gamestop super freak. He followed every rule by the book and annoyed and drove away many potential customers trying to hawk magazines and reservations for games. I had a flexible schedule and enjoyed my discount, though it was a very small discount.

Cons

Unfair management, too pushy on forcing subscriptions and reservations, bad customers
