Pros
I didn't know what a healthy working environment really looked like until H&R Block. The manager and tax pros are so great to work with and open to helping you learn and answer any questions that you may have. Honestly the best thing about this job was my manager Jonathan. (For context, I am a young woman who happens to be Caucasian and blonde) This is sad, but before H&R Block I had never had a male manager to did NOT ask me about my sex life, make inappropriate comments towards me, mock me, ask invasive questions about my personal life, make condescending comments towards me when I asked a dumb question, treat me as lesser, "accidentally" touch my butt, make blonde jokes about me, and/or say sexist, racist, and/or homophobic comments to/about anyone. I guess my standards for male managers were pretty low, but thanks to Jonathan, I have faith that there are male leaders out their who aren't creeps and jerks. He never once made me feel dumb, uncomfortable, or unsafe. He never touched me, discriminated against me for being young, or gossiped about any of the employees. I don't know how much he gets paid, but he definitely deserves a raise, he is the best manager that I have ever had.
Cons
The pay isn't really that great and corporate cares more about numbers than the client experience. The outdated computer systems cause problems at least ten times a week and they always stop working at the worst times; also the office phones are really outdated. The verbal abuse you receive from clients is also usually in regards to the issues I just listed.
