Pros

Mandatory casses prepared employees well for the upcoming tax year. Gained experience preparing tax returns with different situations.

Cons

Too many hours for so little pay and too often no walk-ins but had to stay in office regardless.

Pros

Flexible schedule, easy to work around other jobs or family life. Autonomy in handling client issues. Great training and education opportunities.

Cons

No real advancement opportunities. Jobs are seasonal, and pre-season jobs pay slightly above minimum wage. Tax season pay is commission based, so slow hours and non-paying clients may negatively impact wages. Most of the current leadership does not have a tax background, so their focus on marketing and selling extra products does not sit well with tax preparers on the ground.
