Terrible place to work

Pros

Flexible schedule and summer's off.

Cons

The pay is ridiculously low. The company does not care about its employees. They think a tax business can be run like Target. That's where all the upper management came from.

Pros

Named one of the best employers for the LGBTQ community. Have seen first hand the zero tolerance policy in use. Great place for women to work Affordable self paced learning Opportunity for growth

Cons

Communication - upper management known to frequently send mass district wide emails calling individuals out in unprofessional manner. (Typing in all-caps, allowing “reply-all” responses, allowing local managers to just hit “forward” with no background or input, etc) You can set your own schedule if you enjoy never getting scheduled and then getting ridiculed and shamed when you ask why or for more hours. Not getting rewarded or punished the same as others with equal accomplishments or behavior. Commission plan sucks unless you are higher level, are able to work the schedule you attempt to set for yourself - expect your pay to drop each year otherwise or are ok with overcharging your clients Feeling pressured and sometimes forced to complete tax returns that are above your certification and experience level - even though the IRS prohibits any paid preparer signing any tax return they are not confident is 100% complete and accurate. If you have a complaint about or want to speak to someone about policy violations made by an office manager, DGM or even a client, you cannot do so anonymously in most cases. Forced weekly phone or virtual meetings that must be attended even if you are not scheduled to be at work at that time or if it’s your day off, 99% of them are unnecessary and just waste time. These meetings are also used to call out individuals and have heard more than one person get a verbal warning that should have been done in private.
