Pros

It’s a job; management sucks!

Cons

Dead-end job, no opportunity for advancement at all. No training; no opportunity to advance unless you’re a great brown-noser. Stressfull at times. Took the job because it was the only one I could find & I did it previously for a short time years ago, & quickly remembered why I hated it so back then. You’re expected to be on the phone all the time, no opportunity to research problems at all in order to really help the customers. It’s termed a service desk but operated like a call center. You’re just a low-paid phone monkey, basically.

Pros

This is in reference to the Tampa office location and not the other divisions/locations of HCTec. Base pay was relevant to the market, colleagues were great to work with, and commissions were uncapped. PTO 15days and 40hrs Bereavement. Great IT and HR support both locally and at corporate location.

Cons

Tampa's management lacked strategy to sustain long term growth. Very minimal training to include about a 1 day session yearly with no follow up or implementation. Development of employees consisted of one on one's that were infrequent and were typically skimmed through with no true feedback or direction given. Management consistently made irrational and impromptu decisions based on emotion. Moods and attitudes of management changed daily sometimes hourly with high high's and low low's. Employees expressed their frustration with this on a daily basis. Unethical decisions and behaviors were consistent among management. For example, management questioned taking time off for bereavement and even a severe medical emergency. HCTec has some great people working for them and sounds like most of their offices and management are enjoyable but unfortunately this can not be said for Tampa's management team (Sales).

Pros

Coworkers were great. Job was fairly easy for someone with basic IT skills. My supervisor specifically was great, however he had his hands tied by greedy higher-ups.

Cons

As stated in the title, if they notice that you seem to know what you’re doing, they’ll attempt to give you 5-10x the call campaigns with no raise. After 6 months of hard work and no issues, you’ll get a review where you’ll be up for a raise. After handling nearly ten times the work you started at, they think a 17 cent raise is appropriate. This company pays well below the current average salary for a service desk position, and will make you practically spend years “proving yourself” just to get to the basic starting salary for this position at any other company. There were people there with 7+ years seniority, training new people that were making much more than them.
