Pros

They offer health insurance and 401k. Free monthly parking passes so you can park downtown during work day. I am currently looking for a new job, so they're proximity to other companies for interviews is convenient.

Cons

A lot has changed. Coworkers and departments are not as happy as they used to be. Turnover rate has increased in the corporate office. Team Member Resources may claim to keep issues confidential, but I have experienced that is not the case. Family and friends of family working in the office and on the field usually get hired into a position they do not have experience in.

It is accurate that HHS offers a 401k plan and a company match, provides free parking for as many team members as possible, and provides a very good medical insurance. It is also accurate to say that recent turnover has increased as a result of some leadership changes and reorganization of departments. We are seeing definite trends that indicate that the reorganization is helping in many ways, including stabilizing turnover. It is very important to note that many positive changes have been made as a result of the Open Door Policy and practice. The practice of bringing issues forward is supported at all levels and no retribution is tolerated. Issues and concerns raised are kept confidential only to the extent possible; in order to take corrective action, it is necessary to discuss concerns with relevant parties. If no discussion occurs, no correction or improvements are possible. Family and friends of family and current team members are, if qualified, considered for positions and hired if they are the best candidates, a practice the company is proud of. This practice has resulted in a diverse and very qualified workforce. Advice never falls on deaf ears, and we consider all recommendations. Leadership is very approachable and is always willing to listen, evaluate, and, if necessary, make a correction. As for the allegation that leadership only cares about numbers, this is simply not true. It is accurate that the company is fiscally responsible and continually looks for ways to be fiscally efficient, but we also work diligently to continue to develop and maintain practices and initiatives that benefit all team members with respect to providing competitive benefits, wage increases, and job security.

As a company, we strive to promote a work-life balance, but we also know that our hospital partners require attention and care 24 hours a day, every day. We understand that working in an acute-care environment is a demanding job, and that it's certainly not for everyone. We regret that this individual felt s/he could not approach management with concerns about his/her treatment -- we are committed to our Open Door policy, and we will not tolerate disrespect toward any of our team members. We are always looking for ways to improve our communication processes, and we take allegations of verbal abuse and mismanagement very seriously. We encourage our team members to reach out to their leadership group to address any issues that may occur, verbal or otherwise, so that we can respond swiftly and decisively.

Pros

None, get out while you can.

Cons

The salary on paper looks good but then when about 2 weeks after starting the training you're told, 'you are expected to work 12-14 hour days for the first six months' you realize just how little you make. I spoke to other AD's and was told you are the one expected to cover third shift all the time, so expect that 12 hours to really be 16 2-3 days a week. I had zero family time and forget hobbies or weekends, taking work home, 100% on call, 7 days a week...if you're single with no kids or life, it's okay I guess...

I am disappointed to hear that you felt misled regarding your job duties with HHS. I agree with your sentiment that being upfront regarding expectations will lead to better retention rates. I have shared your feedback with the recruiting team to ensure that they are accurately portraying job duties to candidates. We do work in an industry that runs 24/7 and that sometimes can require long hours. Work/life balance is an area that we recognize is valuable for everyone, and we do have many managers that have been able to achieve a good level of work-life balance. A good mentor, such as your vice president can be a great resource for helping you to put the systems into place to make this happen. I’m sorry that things didn’t work out with HHS and I wish you all the best in your future career. Bobby Floyd, CEO, Healthcare Division
