Pros

Great pay with residual opportunities. You can easily make 80k-100k your first year. During AEP they bring in food, prizes, gift cards and take care of those who work hard. Last AEP, myself and a few others made over 30K ( in a 7 week period). However, we had to work for it. It doesn't always come easy. There is a lot to take in when you first start (information) if you are a Broker. You need to really put in the effort up front. Don't complain, argue, or be that negative person who goes around telling everyone that you used to make so much more money before you started working there. When I first started, I worked 50-60 hours a week. Came in early, stayed late and put in the effort. Guess what...the results came. I make an honest $4500-6000 during non AEP months. During AEP I make about 35K. It gets easier the longer you stay. The leads do get better as you show an increase in production. Why on Earth would they give the best leads to the people complaining, whom are not producing and haven't proven themselves in any other way aside from being the office Debbie Downer. I now work about 40 hours a week, have a very flexible schedule and work from home from time to time. . Snowball effect applies. Work hard - things become easy and great very quickly. Complain - You end up getting let go /walking out and rushing home to write a complaint because you couldn't make it.

Cons

The Company is far from perfect and still has a lot of work to do. The benefits are not the best, training is being improved but still has a ways to go. Not a place to make a lot of friends (lots do not make it) Supervisors do not get paid enough. The room for opportunity is there...but why would someone want to make less money and take on more responsibility. Also upper Management needs to be more transparent. Many of the temps that get hired on during AEP are promised perm positions and are later let go without notice. Yes they are temps...but we could be a little more forward with them.

Great feedback! The part about working hard and being rewarded is true across the company. We acknowledge we are not perfect, but are striving to be the best in the industry. We constantly are looking at our benefits, our training programs, as well as our recruiting strategies. The important thing is that we continue to improve. Thank you for your input.

Pros

Is there an option for negative stars? I honestly have only two nice things to say about HPONE. 1. They brought in food regularly. Whether you were lucky enough to partake is another story considering how busy we were. 2. The very nice, fun, educated, real, down to earth people I worked with. It's a shame we all got suckered into this job.

Cons

Management was beyond shady. They told you exactly what you wanted to hear. Support and training was extremely lackluster and almost non-existent. Commissions were not what they said it would be. Stories changed daily. Permanent employment is not a concept they understand or adhere to. Wages were not as described and it changed often as well. Overtime? What overtime? Don't forget about your draw. Ultimately it came down to this: The concept of dangling the carrot was extremely prevalent….especially for permanent employment. There was a whole lot of politics, stories and changes. Employees were only in the know if it suited HPONE and their scheme. Most employees that were/are retained are not there because of performance, but because of whom they are friends with within the company. HPONE made many promises and did not keep them. Micro-management was evident in all areas. Bonuses, commissions, programs, rules….everything changed from day to day. There was a lack of stability and a significant lack of support and training at almost all levels. Each carrier had different rules according to individual contracts. Employees moved around different projects regularly. The only consistency with HPONE is their inconsistency. They are a churn and burn and they lack employee stability and security.
