Pros

Good location, Interesting work and a growing brand portfolio. Mostly a 8-5 job, with some travel. Good annual bonuses and average benefits.

Cons

Highly political environment, bureaucracy, layoffs, uncertainty of the future, people and systems are woefully behind industry standards. Keith Barr is a no show in the Americas.

Pros

Plenty of good technical folks to work with and a big network to work on. A few good managers at the lower levels.

Cons

Management was, and from what I hear still is, clueless. The words "we're not an IT company" were heard more than once in the data center. A complete lack of vision that caused frequent references to rudderless ships and monkeys with footballs.

Thanks for your review. We did recognise the need to have more technically focused people within our teams, making those important decisions on IT systems. We also agree that a successful and happy IT team is crucial to any successful business. For these reasons, we made a number of leadership changes last year and this has helped create a renewed focus on our IT infrastructure stability and capability improvements. We’ve also made investments in our infrastructure hardware, internal technical operations and engineering teams. This has all helped us to implement standardized deployments and attend to infrastructure stabilization. As you can see, we do value your feedback as it helps us to make IHG a happy and productive place to work. Regards Chris

Pros

Beautiful office with a garden downstairs

Cons

Very clickish and hostile place to work. There is incompetence which is observed at high levels and it is tolerated. Hard and productive work is not recongnized. HR is not serving interests of employees. There is no outlet to discuss concerns.

Hello Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your career at IHG. It was great to read that you enjoyed the benefits of working for IHG – there are many great ones, global discounted hotel stays to name one! Work/life balance is very much important to us, so I was sorry to read that you didn’t feel that yours was valued. We certainly don’t want a culture where people feel treated like a number. I’ve passed your feedback on to our Reservations Office HR Director. Thanks for your feedback on bonus caps and salaries. 18 months ago we reviewed annual raises in the Reservations Department. We now give annual merit increases to all employees’ base wages and there are also no caps on incentives. Kind regards Chris The Employer Brand Team
