Thanks for the feedback, and I’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your time working at LoopNet. Customer service takes a lot of patience, particularly when the client is in a high-pressure industry like commercial real estate. Management and team cohesion varies, and I don’t know your particular circumstance, but we are always looking to develop our employees more, and are now introducing frontline management training to increase the skills and effectiveness of our managers. But rest assured that LoopNet is a flourishing company. Since it was acquired by CoStar Group two years ago, LoopNet has had double-digit year-over-year increases in the average revenue per user for LoopNet premium membership. In the third quarter of this year, LoopNet reached its all-time high for unique monthly visitors. CoStar Group continues to set the industry standard for commercial real estate information services, and LoopNet’s contribution as a marketing tool for clients is a critical part of the company’s success, so to call it a failure would be inaccurate.

Pros

-Great first job out of college -Resume builder -Great people -Can make money if you work hard -Great basic sales training -No prospecting, get 40+ new leads a day

Cons

-Low commission structure -You are the typical 'telemarketer' reaching out to people who fill out online lead forms. Those are not 'warm' leads, there simply giving there name number and email address to get free access to the website. then you call and harass them to pay for a premium membership so they can see more properties and get more exposure. Same pitch, every day. Redundant, tedious, hard-pressurized selling tactics -System is built for high turnover, that tells you something right there -Micro managing 'regional managers', whose only job is to 'help' you hit your target. AKA breathe down your back and ask you whats going on, meanwhile bringing no value to the table. -LOTS of cold calling. 80+ a day. (very respectable when applying for future sales positions) Despite all the cons, I learned a lot of great basic selling skills, gained phone presence and confidence, and I was able to land a legit sales job because of what I learned at LoopNet. make the most of it while you're there, stay a year to put on your resume and get out.
