CTO infused Death Spiral Confirmed - Hospital Solutions
Pros
Decent company overall, but (now former) CTO lead the company into a multi-year stock market free-fall and total lack of software development achievement. Lots of good people doing their best to keep customers happy and the software working while the CTO makes sure all the gradient shading is smooth on the new UI. In 2016 the Hospital Solutions division was sold off due to extreme losses and lack of sales, so maybe the situation will improve now. There's a major new acquisition now, so perhaps the business will turn around and return to the glory days. The old CEO was good, but lacked a power base to oust the CTO. The new CEO kicked him out ASAP.
Cons
From 2010 to 2015, the Tyrannical CTO drove the company into the ground. Stock prices fell from over $45 to around $12 in the five years he ruled. Most of the time when he spoke on quarterly Analyst calls, the stock took another dive. Deeply rooted in the Ivory Tower, this guy could seemingly do no wrong. However, he bragged about making core software decisions by the seat of his pants (or the price of a "development tool" at Best Buy). As the acquired businesses struggled to integrate, this arrogant and egotistical alpha male focused on the glitz and glamour of a new converged product, which after years proved to be true "vapor-ware". He was finally canned by the new Prez, which sold off the acquisitions for pennies on the dollar and left those customers in a quandary.
