Horribly repetitive. Dealing with irate customers all day because the ISPs and the call centers couldn't care less. Management is apathetic.
You need a thick skin and a dull mind to work here for more than a year and still want to login at the beginning of each day. The ISPs that teleNetwork supports are the Wal-Mart of internet providers, often times making their services available to only the most backwoods redneck and ignorant of individuals. The customers rarely have any understanding, whatsoever, of the computers and other devices they've paid hundreds of dollars to own, and they often blame said ignorance on the poor tech they happen to be talking to. The ISPs over-sell their services, causing a very high percentage of downtime for the customers, who then call in irate over the frequent outages.
The absolute minimum is done for the customers, and this creates a negative experience for them, and for the techs. Often times, the only way a repeat issue will finally be resolved is through multiple supervisor callbacks, but the supervisors will instruct you to do anything, including outright lying to the customers, in order to avoid having to take responsibility. So if you have moral issues with lying, this job is NOT for you.
A good deal of the work experience is based on what team you are on, as the team leaders apparently have free reign to do whatever they want to. Initially, I started out on overnights and it was a great experience with a supportive team that was dedicated to customer satisfaction and problem resolution. After 6 months of working overnights, I asked for a day shift, and that was when my personal hell began. The team leader only cared about call times and sales. He was also a bad micro-manager, feeling it necessary to interrupt on every call. Having to answer to a team leader and several level 2s on a call would obviously cause your call times to increase, rather than decrease, so the entire system was a vicious cycle. I ended up quitting when I was harshly criticized for going above and beyond to help a business customer who had a missing account and needed tech support.
