So much potential, but not there yet

Pros

Opportunity to learn a lot of aspects of business that can be applied anywhere - it's almost like getting paid to earn an MBA. Many good people work here and work passionately to help the franchisees. The company works hard to make sure they are never in the position of laying people off. The execs are dedicated and invested in the company's growth - not just a bunch of outsiders who stand to make money even if they are incompetent.

Cons

Ultra-conservative. Too much emphasis put on the wrong aspects of employee environment. For example - all dress is professional even though few f the jobs require it and the employees have repeatedly tried to address with management without the slightest acknowledgement. Some Executive Management definitely has a "you need us more than we need you" mentality - wonder how this will play out if/when job market improves. They already have a tough time recruiting in some areas and it is likely to only get tougher. Many of the best people leave here due to the environment. The same mentality that makes them stable (most execs have accounting backgrounds) also severely limits their creativity and growth. They cannot make their long-term goals with this mindset. Some really inept people in middle management.

Hostile Environment

Pros

The pay was at market.

Cons

Office politics were pretty bad. Especially between project managers, who would fight over developers.

Thank you for your comments. SERVPRO's IT Department continues to grow in step with our company and its objectives. Part of our responsibility is to evaluate the way we operate to ensure that the best and most efficient practices are being adopted and continually updated. We are sorry that you found our environment to be "hostile." Although we respect your opinion, "hostile" is a strong critique not previously heard in this context. We strive to create a productive and collaborative environment between teams and departments. Specifically, we work closely with our PMO to ensure that timelines and objectives are being met, and that we are providing clear direction for our developers. Priorities sometimes change and that can impact schedules and plans. We review and prioritize our projects on a recurring basis to avoid any politics or disagreements between project managers. With regards to our legacy systems, we will continue replace our systems and evolve our software to ensure that we are providing "best of class" software to our franchises. SERVPRO is an exciting place to be and we are offering tremendous opportunities to IT professionals who love a challenge and want work on great technologies like mobile, web and cloud technologies. Thanks again for your comments.

Pros

Experience in the corporate world and in the restoration industry

Cons

Extremely Political, There is more concern for ongoing politics than for the company and the franchises they are supposed to be supporting.
