Pros

Even with it's growth it's still a startup at heart, for better or worst, but this allows anyone to have impact, and create their own destiny. The culture is top notch. Being primarily led by women at the top, and the company half women as well, helps to avoid aggressive, terrible environments you've heard about at other companies. The leadership team is very accessible, and transparent. Company is heading in a positive direction, and really listens to the employees. The company truly cares about its employees, the benefits and perks are top notch, and TR is striving to be a best in-class remote first company.

Cons

The platform itself has struggled for years resulting in needing to have a top notch operations department, CS, and Tasker Success Team to make up for those shortcomings. The issues with the platform design can be frustrating for engineers. Remote first culture is not without it's pitfalls. It can be hard to connect with others or feel truly engaged, and it's very much in the early stages of it's development. A lack of Black and LatinX, managers, Directors, and Senior Leadership is a shortcoming resulting in well meaning sentiments around DEIB. It comes from the top and truly needs to be a priority. TR is diverse for the tech industry, but that's not saying much- the industry as a whole needs to do better. Additionally the fast pace nature of the company leaves many feeling burned out fast with tons of responsibilities and projects all running at once- roles can feel unsustainable.

Pros

Really good at throwing away money and great at avoiding accountability

Cons

The CEO is utterly useless and at times it is believed that she actively micromanages and disrupts plans because she's so insecure and ineffectual as a leader that she doesn't know what else to do with her time. She definitely doesn't know how to run a company or build an effective team. The growth of the company is bleaker and bleaker with her in charge. And that's why there is a question mark in the headline. On the bright side though, if you want to hear VPs and C-levels talk about globetrotting, how their au pair is working out (you read that right, yes), and them not being able to relate to the realities of the employees they under pay, this is definitely a company for you.

Pros

Great group of people, really all on the same team and looking to help each other. Fully remote. Great product.

Cons

The sudden, nonsensical holiday season layoffs showed what we all thought all along -- CEO has short-sighted vision, doesn't actually care about the people, and Senior Leadership don't stand up to her.

Pros

Working at TR is a great place that values remote work and having a family. It's not uncommon to see a child in the background of a meeting call or share family updates and that's totally supported amongst teams. In fact, the teams that you work with are some of the best and talented people that you'll meet. There's a lot of really humble and amazing individual contributors. This is the only reason TR retains any good talent on average for about 1 year but if you double click into it further, they all end up leaving because of leadership. It's not quite possible to stick around longer solely for those good people.

Cons

I don't even know where to begin. It's kind of wild how drastic the experience becomes when you move from IC to leadership. It's like everyone at this company that is an IC and is in the trenches, is super passionate, and willing to grind to get projects moving along but wow the leadership does basically everything opposite from what basic leadership is expected to do. The senior leadership is incredibly demoralizing, toxic, creates divides, perpetuates rumors, fear mongering culture, and incessant gas lighting. Note that nothing your team does will ever be enough because goals and objectives can change literally on a whim all because the CEO decided last minute they "didn't like" something. The minute a mistake is made, your job is at jeopardy and everyone that you worked with is also at risk of being on the chopping block. Anyone that is currently in senior leadership is basically a "yes person" to the CEO, and the directors at the company are praised for how well they play into these politics. It is totally normal for leadership to degrade and undermine teams of ICs. Leadership really has a knack for establishing zero psychological safety. It's only a matter of time before they end up running it all into the ground (which I'm confident they're on their way to doing). If you have ANY integrity in your work, STAY AWAY!!! Any good talent that is still there is already one foot out the door.
