No sales methodology, no real CRM. No good training for sales. Certain departments (product marketing, Cisco, profit team) have too much arbitrary power over sales, often to bad short term results when in aggregate the decisions made by sales are fine. Comp plan is not competitive unless you're management. Insurance is overpriced, especially for a tech company. Additionally, there is little culture of a meritocracy at the company, it's more about how you play the game rather than doing the right thing. The ERP system is dangerously out of date, there is a culture of mediocrity in departments that are not customer facing. There is also a culture believing that sales makes too much money, has too many incentives when they adsorb the overwhelming majority of the risk in the organization.

I find it truly disappointing that Tech Data makes no effort to make any announcements or provides words of comfort regarding the recent Asian American attacks or Black Lives Matter movement. The company focuses on profit, mergers with Synnex, and Apollo's recent acquistion of the company. However, they overlook the opinions and feelings of their employees. Moral is at an all time low. Three of my co-workers resigned last year. And four this year, it's only March! The managers and higher ups need to focus more on customer satisfaction and employee retention. In addition, I have no received any sort of merit increase or promotion and I have been working here for two years already. Other companies would at least provide a merit increase at a minimum. I have also found out that the females and minorities on my team are getting paid less than their white male counterparts. That is a shame.

No teamwork and team atmosphere

The work culture in the sales department is not healthy. Some senior employees condescending behavior towards new employees. Management is less supportive for people. Rudeness and authoritative behavior is supported by the higher management. Less harmony and uplifting atmosphere. Some employees who has good terms with managers/management are supported out of the way. Even toxic behavior amongst the team members or superior is tolerated or sometimes supported by the management. HR department knows about all these but has no intention to correct or change this working culture. High employees turnover is the proof of this bad work culture. There are many other points but this much is enough to give the glimpse inside the company.

Company overall does not have trust in employees. Cold and heartless culture.

The inside account rep position felt a bit too much like a middleman at times. It really did seem like my value add was not very compelling regardless of what upper management kept spouting.
