Pros

Seeing the happy faces on the children and the customers. Helping customers find what they want. The fun events the store used to have. It was fun and cute seeing Geoffrey at the events and being able to help out the events was nice reprieval from cashiering. I used to be okay (found it even fun at times but now not anymore) with working here but ever since closing, I rarely find any happiness from this job. It is not because I am sad the store is closing but because the store is closing, they are treating some employees (me) not as nicely as others..

Cons

Not many hours unless it was holidays. My employee discount (10%) card never worked. Store closing and losing my job. Being told that gift wrapping is against store policy and although it was nice of me to do it, I should not have ever done it. Sometimes having no freedom from one spot while others can walk around the store as they please. Not letting me work at customer service.. Also didn't tell me about sick time balance so I ended up losing all the time.

Pros

It was a good company that gave autonomy for the day-to-day operations of the business. Some good district managers who believed in individual growth made the job easy and fun.

Cons

Too much prep time for visits; upper management continually changing the focus of the business instead of concentrating on the foundation of the business. Too many cut backs in hours to the stores.

Pros

Casual environment with work/life balance. (flexible hours, ability to work from home) Lot's of amenities (full service cafeteria, coffee shop, gym) Good communication and exposure from senior leadership regarding mission, vision, values, strategic initiatives, financials. Good talent management and HR support. Career path and growth was part of the culture.

Cons

Expense control mode. Constant cutting and reducing, yet still operating to drive change and growth, doing a lot more with a lot less.
