Pros

Supported furthering education and certificates. Paid for my Masters Degree which was 60k.

Cons

Overflow of responsibilities. Was in charge of changes for 3 lines of business. Too many changes, too much testing. At first the system was balanced and changes were going in at a fair level, after some retirements and leadership changes all of a sudden my department said yes to every change suggested while being understaffed. New Leadership is very clicky and I think this is the 3rd CIO in a row with no technical background. I finished my Masters, got promoted to Sr level, got put on a PIP, and was let go all in a span of 12 months. I immediately got a job making 65% more, so thanks I guess.

Pros

Hybrid/Remote opportunities, on-staff nurse available for questions or consultations

Cons

Senior leadership doesn't practice what they preach. Very high cost for insurance and paid time off isn't nearly enough compared to other companies. Sometimes a very toxic culture.

From bad to worse

Pros

Ability to work from home during pandemic.

Cons

From bad to worse. Systems and technology continue to lack and the quick fix band aide mentality takes a toll on the resources required to support the vendors who do no bring long term solutions . Resources used to be recognized for accomplishments and now they are treated like a number by the IT leader and there are no acknowledgements or celebrations. There is complete lack of IT vision and leadership which has caused talented resources to leave. There is no trust between IT and the business due to the stranglehold one vendor relationship had on the organization. PMO has been given too much authority at the risk of long term implications and impacts to business results
