I have worked in 3 different business units since the beginning of my career at VSP and I can honestly say there are a lot of good managers that truly want to help you advance.
Cons
Each business unit is different and management in my current unit are extremely unprofessional, a lot of micro management and a feeling of no trust when it comes to management. Benefits are no good and for being a vision insurance company you would think they offer their employees the best vision benefits.

A very friendly and hard-working environment. The managers are fantastic, they know how to motivate their employees and push them to be better. At the same time, they do a very good job at encouraging employees and rewarding them when appropriate.
Cons
The organization needs a better on-boarding process. And vacation could be a bit better.

VSP is a 60 year old company that provides consumer charity services, and strongly believes in giving back to the community., As an employee there are promotional and growth opportunities for both individual contributors and management. VSP provides an excellent 401K plan and a robust health benefit package.
Cons
The company is growing so fast that it's workforce struggles to keep up. It could do better in offering competitive salaries now that the economy is improving.
