Pros

Great employees. Made some great friends! One boss tried to make a difference but was shot down most of the time when she tried to improve things. Training was hard but fun. Learned a lot about myself. Learned I can be a technical person.

Cons

Was told 401K would be implemented. Didn't happen. Trainers teach you one thing and then supervisors only care about making money and not giving quality service. Employees are NOT taught to "take ownership" of THEIR company. Never felt like part of a community, excpect with the people I trained with. When suggestions were given, was told, "Not your job" even though the suggestions I gave would save the company money. Call-Center Reps are "rewarded" through "Chance Games" and not full result based compensation. Commission for CSR's were never consistent. Could make great money one week and have it taken away the next. Never had a review unless I made a mistake. Has trainers teach us to tell our customers, "To have a quality product, you have to invest in that product" because we sold the most $$ satellite tv service but the company doesn't practice this for it's employees. I never saw any "investment" in the employees. People stay because they don't think they have a choose. Coworkers would come in high but not get in trouble. I would make one mistake and got written up. Facilities are old and not up to date. The break room is disgusting and sad. No vending machines. Relayed on my co-workers or Trainers (or the Supervisors that actually cared) to receive needed guidance. Use to text message my trainer ?'s when on the floor even though I would get in trouble. My trainer made a huge difference in my life but they fired her. She was the best trainer they had. Call center areas were consistently dirty. I brought in my own handy wipes.

Pros

• VXI's rather conveniently situated. Right at the heart of downtown Youngstown, it's easily accessible and has a bus service for those who park further away. • There is, or at least was at the time of my employment, a graduation bonus for successful hires. It's a nice incentive, provided it's still around. • Training is solid. The trainers, in general, know what they are doing. • The work environment is nondemonitional and apolitical. For someone uncomfortable with Infocision's overt political and religious leanings, this was refreshing. • Management mostly has a 'hands-off' policy. As long as you are doing your job, you shouldn't be bothered with excessive interference. • Generally office politics seem to be low-key here, especially compared to the skullduggery omnipresent in other call center companies.

Cons

• The work environment is very dilapidated. My first impression of it was that I had the wrong building. Surely this run-down place couldn't be VXI, I thought. I suppose they choose to sacrifice presentation for location. • Anyone can be hired, and just about anyone is. You can probably guess what this leads to. The lobby is populated by some very shady characters during the day and all of them have VXI badges. I took to staying upstairs for my breaks. • No drug testing. You can probably guess where this leads too. Someone would have to walk in plastered before they would meet the 'probable suspicion' clause. • Highly unpredictable schedules. Forget weekly consistency, you won't get daily consistency. You may work at wildly different times every day a week. • To put it delicately, management will promise things and not follow through. Schedule changes are the worst targets of this - if you need your schedule changed and are promised it will be, the promise usually means nothing. Bonuses were also promised and never materialized. • High stress environment, though not quite as high-stress as at other call centers. Generally VXI prefers to transfer people between campaigns rather than fire them. (Warning: Thiis may be different between campaigns.) • Horribly, horribly disorganized. No one knew what anyone was doing. Given that the campaign was being run by a retired military officer, this was even more jarring. Generally the supervisors throw up their hands and go with the flow. • On that note: trying to be a supervisor here is truly a nightmare. • Be prepared to set your morals aside if you want to succeed here. You will sell some very shady products and services to people. Caveat emptor.

Pros

Pay is good, health insurance is good as well.

Cons

Management for the entire company is incredibly insufficient. HR drops the ball on anything that doesn't involve writing you up or putting on a facade to make employees think the company cares. Nearly everything you are told about the job when getting interviewed such as work schedules, shift differential pay, and management support is a lie. The QA system as it is allowed to be at this time is highly toxic and harasses employees instead of helping them improve. If a rule that doesn't make sense or conflicts with policy is disputed, QA department makes up new rules to give themselves new ways to harass employees and will not publish a list of their rules for employees to see, only a vague list of incomplete guidelines that are entirely opinion based and do not explain exactly what rules you should be following. It takes almost 3 months to earn a single shift of PTO. No paid sick leave. Management writes people up for absences even with doctors notes.
