Startups are not really startups, but product teams managed from above. Each employee has to listen to not just one but a few chiefs as to how to do their job. Nobody wants to help, but gives constantly changing tasks without any understanding of the context of what is being built and how things work, while pointing fingers if something does not work or criticize if you show any initiative. There is no career or skills to improve, nobody gives any real guidance that could help you in any way, you have to figure it all out while constantly walking on thin ice, because upsetting the wrong people is fatal. Your actual manager may also change every week, along with goals, teams, technology or office and you wont have a say in anything. If you are in, have a backup ready, if you are out, there's better.
