Pros

Get to work in different areas of Oracle. But you don't get much in the way of depth. Since most of your co-workers don't like management you can bond with them over that.

Cons

AST client base is small government operations. Municipal and some state operations .They usually don't have a lot of money. The result is AST gets nickeled and dimed on things. If you are onsite you will be treated badly by both your management team and the client. Some managers make a point of humiliating employees. Management offers little in growth or training . Turnover is high which is why they have so many postings. With little revenue growth expect company to begi to decline

Not Just a 'Job', but a Rewarding Career!

Pros

AST is a successful, growing company, but it continues to have a supportive, "family" atmosphere. Often, growing companies quickly adapt a "big business" or "strictly corporate" personality. This is certainly not the case with AST. Since day one, I have felt welcome and appreciated, and every one of my coworkers is helpful and provides guidance as I face challenges that advance my skills and career. AST retains the "it's all about our people" mindset. While growing the business is important, the President himself says that supporting his team of employees, and having fun while working, is critical to our success. AST provides an incredible work-life balance. In my role, I am challenged (in a positive way) to exceed goals that I set for myself and for the company. AST has a great team atmosphere, in which everyone fills in wherever needed to meet a deadline or complete a task. No one is ever "above" doing a job. The executive leadership is incredibly personable and easy to work with, while also pushing their team members to grow and learn. They are not just name plates on doors that are always closed, but smiling faces that ask you how things are going and always have an open-door policy. I truly feel that working for AST is not just another 'job', but a worthwhile, rewarding lifetime career.

Cons

In my opinion, there really are no "cons" to working for this Company. I have some days that are more challenging and stressful than others, but not many, and when they do come around, it isn't a bad thing; It's an opportunity for growth and learning.

Things are not as they appear...

Pros

AST is growing and they will hire just about anyone (which is a Con too)!

Cons

To start off with, I left a job that I was very happy because of the promise of a much better opportunity! I was NEVER able to perform in that job. So, if you are happy where you currently are, don't accept an offer here...RUN! The administrative support is absolutely horrible and really doesn't know what they are doing. They have a script that they stick to with no outside thought. They do as they are told and nothing more. They give you $50/day per diem regardless of where you are working in the country (US established rates don't apply), and they give you $.50/mile for your personal vehicle travel regardless of the rate established by the US. They use an old out of date system for expense reports and constantly promise an upgrade, not sure how that will turn out. They also try to hold you to IL labor law regardless of what state you reside in! Management underbids projects extensively and expects the project team to compensate. The last project I was on was underbid by $1 million or about 50% of the total price. The build would normally require 4 people for about a year. They bid it to be done in 6 months with two full-time people a PM and some remote help. There are some very knowledgeable and nice people that you MAY get to work with. However, there are some EXTREME inter-office politics at play so you shouldn't trust ANYONE. You can't speak up about anything or you get fired! AST is currently hiring big time. Be careful of what you are promised and get EVERYTHING in writing.
