Finance is managed by former consultants and others with no formal finance training or experience, with hilarious results. There is a lot of made up stuff that you wouldn't find in any other finance department anywhere and will leave you shaking your head. Lack basic controls so they have an army of people whose only job seems to be to find mistakes and create a pool of people they can fire when anything goes wrong. In short, they haven't a clue what they're doing. The work is not meaningful and there are no clear roles and responsibilities. The top guys in finance like to order people around and are constantly reorganizing and changing your responsibilities without a care what employees think. Turnover is high. Morale is low. Overall the company is hemorrhaging cash in their core business all the while investing huge sums (hundreds of millions) on goofy health apps that nobody uses and other pet projects of the top executives. Non-profit healthcare has huge profits that they have to spend on frivolous things instead of reducing premiums, so it's a huge contributor to the cost of healthcare in this country. So don't be fooled by the "non-profit" banner and all the advertising about how "member-focused" they are. They have an army of people dedicated to reducing what claims they'll pay and they could care less about people and their medical conditions. It's a national shame.

After nearly a decade of work, including implementing new programs and building culture, I was unceremoniously ousted by a toxic manager (who I am quite sure took delight in it), under the guise of budget/cost-savings. I gave blood, sweat and tears to the organization and endured a lot. Just don't expect any loyalty -- even if you are a consistent performer. If they feel you are used up, you're out. I landed on my feet, but for all the talk of palliative care, the concern for the "death" of an employee's job and the accompanying grief is nonexistent. It's something that I still grieve today.
