Pros

-Woking at CompuCom was like having an extended family when it came to working with your co-workers. It was a very friendly atmosphere where I truly felt like part of the team unit. - I managed myself, As a forklift operator for CompuCom I could arrange and re-arrange my priorities freely so long as all work still got done within the time frame required. - Adjustable schedule during slow period- you could start and end your day at a time that suited you during slow periods. The only requirement was that you put in your full 8hr's -Occasional free food, drinks and company dinners -Does provide benefits and life insurance once you are full time - Take breaks whenever you like during slow periods. Have a busy morning? that's fine just take your morning break with your lunch break. - Well organized, finding things was easy and it was one of the few wearhouse's I have been in where things were where they said they were in the system.

Cons

-Suddenly demands for overtime if a project gets busy without regards to your plans or life schedule making it unsuitable for those with young kids. - No training provided. I started out working at this company with no idea how to used the operating systems they had and had to figure out most of it on my own through trial and error. - Took forever to switch me over from part time to full time (More than a year). - No breaks, not even to have lunch, during peak periods. - High demand for output with little support or help provided to accommodate the sudden influx of work when it happened. - Poor planing and projections, Again if they had projected properly they would have known about the influx of work and been able to plan for the support or in some cases the parts required to do the job and get it to the client on time. They had times when orders ended up weeks late because the ordering manager had not ordered enough parts to complete orders. - Lack of space for tec's. We get big orders for 47" tv's and the tec only has room to work on five at a time, each taking roughly an hr or more to set up, and yet we have to get 100 of the things done in a day? - Additional responsibilities and projects added on to an already overworked and overstressed worker without wage increase. This especially became a problem at the end when one person had to handle the job of five people. - A inventory system that was constantly buggy and incorrect as far as QTY went. Not sure how it goes from me entering in 20 items into the database to all 20 items no longer existing the next day without orders going through. Others had this problem too and the system would normally correct itself the next day but when it didn't it was a pain to get things adjusted.

No Loyalty. No Respect. No Ethics. Run away from this company

Pros

It is a job. OK for free training, then move one to where they actually pay you, and appreciate the work you do for them.

Cons

No loyalty. Every November there are numerous layoffs "to re-org" and keep the owners (T.H. Lee) into believing they "have a plan to improve the upcoming year". No raises in 9+ years for Field Technicians, always a different excuse or reason for delay, but they don't come through. Everyone must move to corporate office location unless you are friends with the right people. Company will not pay for relocation when your job moves, yet will not hesitate to eliminate you after you go to all the expense of moving you and your family, spouting "re-org". Corporate positions are being eliminated and replaced with outsourced India offices. The largest client demands that the company move out of North Carolina and Texas due to "bathroom law" bills, and Compucom does what they demand. They are losing money and can't do any better than cheap rates and poor quality service contracts.

Leadership Issues - Not Recommended

Pros

- Work from home. This allowance was provided to most employees within CTS and is literally the only reason I remained at this company for 6 years. - Strong technical resources. CTS is a mostly skilled team of technical professionals in many disciplines.

Cons

- High leadership turnover. In 6 years at the company, we had 4 CEO changes and even higher numbers of executive leadership turnovers. We often had "Town Hall Meetings" where leadership failed to provide their employees with any sense of direction for the business and commitment to see their vision to fruition. The consequence of this is .... - High employee turnover. Resources come and go at Compucom more often than the wind blows, which results in the Service Desk, NOC, and CTS operating in a perpetual training cycle. Leadership fails to understand that high employee turnover is very costly and is disastrous for their clients. - Little/no raises. The only instance where marginal raises are given are when a strong resource already has a foot out the door. When an employee is working hard, they are not rewarded for their work. It's only when an employee is already thinking of leaving that leadership attempts to persuade them to stay by throwing money at them. It never works out well. - Poor career development options for technical resources. New hires are cast into roles and seldom have the opportunity to develop their skill sets. - Training is almost non existent. I received training on new technology once in 6 six years. I heard of other people receiving no training at all during similar periods of employment. - Dubious OT practices. Compucom used to pay their resources for working OT, until about 6 months ago. After OT payment stopped, management attempted to get resources to work extra hours and then give those resources "OT in lieu" instead of payment, a practice which is forbidden by HR. For example, if you worked a 60 hour week, your manager would recommend that you take the 20 hours off "in lieu", off the books. When this concern was raised to HR, no investigation was conducted and it was just swept under the rug. Resources continued to feel compelled to acquiesce to their manager's unreasonable requests, because HR was sending the message that the issue was not worth dealing with and that management's interests were more important. - Poor business partnerships. Compucom chose to hire a company called Ceryx to manage their messaging, instead of hiring their own messaging resource. Eventually, they realized what a waste of money this was and hired a resource about 6 years later. On another occasion, a company called "CableReady" was hired to clean up their data center cage, which was a rat's nest of cable hazards (understatement). CableReady had a single, capable resource that did most of the work, but unfortunately, in the middle of an important migration, this resource had to go on vacation, so his work was handed off to resources that had no idea what they were doing. They ended up pulling the wrong cables and brought down a chunk of a Compucom flagship customer's production environment for an extended period of time. The customer went absolutely bonkers. This is just one instance of a Compucom leadership choice resulting in a massive production environment outage for a customer. The result of these poor decisions is ... - Loss of flagship customers. Compucom picked up 2 very lucrative contracts, which resulted in their Canadian operation going from a "mom and pop" IT company to midrange/large player. They've already lost one of those accounts, and will almost certainly lose their other one in the next 8 months. After the loss of the first account, there were massive layoffs. Employees should be prepared for another round of massive layoffs. ... there are many other issues with this organization, but I think those stated above are enough to give potential employees an idea of what to expect.

Pros

Online training as various subjects. Direct management is usually really good. Work-life balance is decent (If you aren't a lead\manager). Plenty of PTO (Well, now they bring you in at 8 hours /month vs 12 when I started).

Cons

Upper management has a complete disconnect from the local branch. If you are looking for a pay raise, don't bother. No clear direction. Upper management never has actual information (Will have to get back to you) < Everytime. CompuCom lost it's contract to IBM, supporting Walmart. Expect ALL positions to be gone mid-May.
