Thank you for your comments. I'm sorry to hear that you had a negative experience, and I will share your thoughts with our Leadership. I appreciate you calling out some of the pros of a career as a First Command Financial Advisor. One of our most valuable offerings is the Fast Start program, which provides intense professional development to prepare new people for success as Independent Advisors. Some of the benefit offerings of that program include paying new Advisors during the training period (first on an hourly basis, then salary) and offering a full array of employee benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, disability insurance, 401(k) and personal time off). We find that this program is an ideal way to prepare new people to become Independent Advisors and begin pursuing First Command’s Mission of “coaching those who serve in their pursuit of financial security.”

Pros

Home Office is very helpful. Most District Advisors are actively supportive. There are other Advisors out there always willing to help you become successful.

Cons

Not enough administration help while trying to meet quotas. The District Advisors lack knowledge on products, but they sure act educated. Make sure what they are teaching you is factual. Make sure your DA is actively involved and liked by the other Advisors you will be working with. You will need it to survive. DA's are given too much power and can cause a lot of conflict within what should be a team.
