Pros

Paycheck, and good health insurance package including dental and eye. Some coworkers have become great friends. That's about it.

Cons

Where to begin? Horrible management. Can only receive PTO after being employed there for one year minimum. After six months, you can "borrow" PTO from the next year but if you're terminated or quit before you're there one year, you have to pay it back from your last paycheck. Ridiculous 11 point system where you get one point for calling out and 1/2 point for being late/leaving early even with an emergency. Forget going home during a snow storm, they'll risk your life just for a couple keystrokes. EXTREME micromanaging. Higher ups are always in your face. Management has to have control over your every move. HORRIBLE pay rate!!! Almost minimum wage for New York for keying some complex work with lots of rules and regulations to follow. Only 30 minutes of uptime, or else you're screwed. They monitor everything! Too strict of a work environment for such a low paying job. Good luck trying to get a day off even when you have PTO to use. You're not allowed to use your cell phone even just to listen to music. Can't even have it on you in case of emergencies. Can't use any MP3 device with a camera or Wifi (even though the facility has no wifi). The overall atmosphere is like you're in a sweatshop or assembly line in a factory. The office itself is dirty and disgusting. Stains all over the rugs, and maintenance doesn't vacuum under the desks. There's dust and dirty everywhere. In the summer, it's hot in there and the winter freezing. They love to hire the weirdest, scariest, and strangest people you will ever see in your entire life. It's like the Island of Misfit Toys. The work is so boring and mindless you'll want to hang yourself at the end of every shift just to give yourself something to do. PLEASE DO NOT WORK HERE!! There are better jobs out there, and a lot of them pay more. I would rather do retail over this everyday. Turn around and don't look back!!

Pros

Pay for performance can be a positive when we have enough claims to keep us busy & before the entire team becomes seasoned, fast producers. Our team members are very friendly & helpful. The schedule is flexible & the dress code is very casual.

Cons

The pay per claim is continually dropped every time the team exceeds their goals. It's the only company I've ever worked for that pays less the better you do. We run out of claims often and when we run out we don't get paid since we are paid per claim. They pay OT but then lower the per claim pay when OT causes the average payment of employees to go up. This effectively cancels OT payment in the end. They claim to pay bonus but again, that causes the average pay to go up which also results in lowering the per claim payment which also effectively cancels out bonus. They have a set average pay that they want to pay & regardless of whether you are there 1 year or 30 that's the pay they expect you to make & it never increases with the cost of living. It's the same average now that it was 15 years ago when the company was called Medplans. One quality error puts you into penalty & then your pay is drastically lowered to McDonald's wages. All promotions are generally less paying positions and therefore makes only the ones who can't cut it as a claims examiners apply. That creates an environment where the most knowledgable are not in the support roles. Training is horrible and insufficient due to this very thing.

Pay is Enough To Keep You Poor

Pros

Working from home. Management and team members are great. They send you equipment. No micromanagement so you can work in peace. Learn what you can and move on to a better company.

Cons

It's owned by a foreign company, so it's definitely giving third world vibes. They send equipment but it's a heavy, bulky, out of date PC. They have a timer on the computer where if your mouse doesn't move for 5 minutes it will ask you why? No PTO until after 1 year of employment. They automatically enroll you in 401k so now you have to waste time calling to get out of it. They don't have a well put together system for training. Everything is on spreadsheets and Word docs so you have a ton of files you have to open to refer to which is ridiculous. You clock in one system and get paid in another. They expect you to give quantity yet want quality when the training isn't thorough. They're not as organized as other companies I've worked for. Overall the benefits suck but the people you work with are hard working, knowledgeable people.
