Retail is much harder than people think, but can be rewarding if you really like people
Pros
to learn about gaming, to be involved with gaming, for the opportunity to work with other gamers, employee discount, employees can borrow games, great opportunity to build people skills and customer service skills, opportunities to help wide array of customers (not just nerdy gamers anymore), from families to grandparents to kids (DON'T be a gamer snob and continuously put down Wii etc games, there's no room for you in Gamestop anymore, gaming has changed too much)
Cons
Poor pay, risk of being robbed, actually fairly stressful, VERY detail-oriented - need to be very on top of your work, store operations are very important, fairly inconsistent scheduling, relatively poor communications from Store Mgmt and District Management (but this varies by individual), somewhat unreasonable pressure to hit subscriptions and reservations targets without any incentive - there are NO commissions at Gamestop
