Pros

Flexible hours, and tax pros here know a lot and do a good job. Can meet some great people.

Cons

Paying $200 to take a class then making 8.50 an hour? NY's minimum wage this year is more than they paid last year (it's going up now). It can go up a lot based on clients and continuing education but really? No wonder the company has a hard time getting people to work there.

Pros

Company emphasis is on strong customer service skills. Initial training and on-going training are excellent. Each office is run individually making for a small close-knit team, which is then overseen by the district manager. The hours and schedule are flexible and can be adjusted to suit your needs. Fellow co-workers are wonderful and the job is never boring.

Cons

Job is only seasonal unless you are one of the lucky few who get to work year round. Pay is base pay plus commission which can be very low unless you have been there a long time, work in a very busy office, and have a huge client base.

Growth opportunity is there...you just have to work at it

Pros

The company does put a lot of energy around internal talent development. I think the key is that associates need to have the initiative to take advantage of it, or work for a leader who makes it a priority. I've been promoted 4 times since starting work at the company, so the opportunities are definitely available.

Cons

There is a lot of "us versus them" mentality among different departments and between the corporate headquarters and the field. It has improved dramatically in the last few years, but still has a long way to go. There is an excellent framework to company values, but associates don't necessarily exhibit those values regularly.
