Pros

Benefits are good. Pay is good in the right positions. Remote work is available, but they have a beautiful buildling in downtown KC that includes parking. Modern, clean work environment.

Cons

Honestly, this company has a layoff cycle. After every tax season, associates worry if they will be laid off if the company had a bad year. Even if they have a good year, they layoff people. Be cautious if you're over 50. There's also a work/life balance issue. This is not a 40-hour a week job. You work every day. There's no set vacation so you take what you want with manager approval. This is a con as you never take as much vacation as you could and you end up with nothing if you leave.

Pros

Fair benefits, usually safe from termination unless caught in the end of tax season mass layoff/re-org

Cons

Ideas are all top down. If the idea does not come from the SLT it will never get support

Pros

Culture; Perks; Opportunities for Bonuses (if they company is doing well)

Cons

Most employees are seasonal (hard to retain decent help/talent); Almost constant layoffs and re-orgs; Uncertainty creates an overly competitive environment; Pay is okay, but not great (usually will find better pay for the same job in many other places)

Pros

It was a good working environment and I was able to use my skill set during the season before the annual layoff. Many good people to work with.

Cons

Favoritism runs rampant. If they like you during off hours outside of work, you'll get promoted. Many many people who are qualified are looked over because they come to work and do their jobs. I worked there for years during the main season and decided to finally leave and get a job that would value me.

Pros

Some of the VP's are good leaders and let you do your job.

Cons

Company has been around a long time but current leadership is struggling how to stay relevant and they are in a annual layoff approach to save the bottom line. Hard to attract talent when you are cutting positions every year.
