Pros

Company training of professionals is highly stressed. Pay is based on the complexity of tax returns and preparer level of expertise.

Cons

Company requires 8 week layoff in order to maintain part time status of preparers. Off season work is inconsistent in duration.

Good Values, Failing Business

Pros

Get your taxes done for free. The building has a gym and rec room. They give out free tickets to events regularly.

Cons

Other departments I'm sure are different, but my department was way understaffed, and then they did layoffs. They wouldn't allow us to do overtime, but it was not physically possible to finish our workload in 40 hours. Also a ton of positions were outsourced. I was hired in the middle of tax season even though the person I'd replaced had left 8 months before, and no one had time to train me on anything, even the phones, but I still had to take calls my first week there.

Pros

Networking, good knowledge, fairness in bonus distribution, paycheck (the fact that I have one), development goals, unemployment, easy to get a job, MY department

Cons

Layoffs, upper management, communication, mobility, does not pay adequately, does not provide tools to complete job, does not take feedback, benefits (not competitive), no job title listed for my position below, lack of development, no company picnics and other activities to engage employees, uneven distribution, handles

Associate Manager

Pros

Cafe in Building. Good Benefits.

Cons

Never sure about job security or performance. Be prepared every spring for layoffs, and those remaining pick up the extra work from the layoffs. Be prepared for your job title not to match your duties and those do not match your pay. If you want to move departments, they will stop you. Be prepared for sketch software or application launches. They rush to get systems launched even if they are terrible.
