Toxic Company

Pros

Unlimited PTO Great Health Benefits

Cons

This company is like a bad relationship. At first you think that it's great with all the "friendly" people but then small things start popping up after a year or so. Until you're having panic attacks caused by management

Pros

The money is good and that is the only con I can think of.

Cons

No idea how this company gets any "Best companies to work for". They are micro manage you to a point that it is almost comical. They say they don't have a script, but their QA grades say otherwise. If you don't say the EXACT verbiage they will mark you down for that question. Just give us a script. If their sales team sells a lot in a state, they will then raise that states premiums AND the goals for that state. Seems to me they don't want you making THAT much money. There is a revolving door of sales agents here and now I understand why. They monitor your private slack messages. That was recently confirmed by a coworkers mid term review. If you are bad mouthing the company (Privately) they will know. Hitting the goals are WAY harder than they make it seem in the interviews. You won't get your footing until around month 4 or 5. MAYBE. They make it seem easy in the interviews and that is wrong. Taking PTO is almost impossible. If you take time off, you better get ready to stress to make your monthly numbers. Too many people take their one week vacation and then come back and cannot hit that months goals. So it does not REALLY support any kind of work/life balance. Now they have a points system for any lateness and tardies. The rollout has been a complete disaster and wildly unpopular. I dont think I can call out the ridiculous rules but trust me. Its bad. This company does not seem to value their employees and really values the dollar and bind count. If you can afford it, work at any other company. Even the old school companies gotta be better than this place.

Pros

Growing business. Ambitious company. A few great people.

Cons

It was the only time in my career where I never looked forward to starting work in the morning. Poor onboarding experience - low chance of initial success. High pressure and with very unclear success metric. Many different leaders casting judgement with limited context. Felt like everyone was always fighting for position while pretending to be friends. A lot of turnover and not for everyone. Every job has challenging days, but this was especially bad.

Thanks for leaving a review! It’s our goal to create a supportive environment where team members feel excited to start their day and energized by our ambitious mission. We’re sorry your experience didn’t align with this. Kin’s environment is fast-paced, direct, and dynamic- and may not be a good fit for everyone. Many of our teams rely heavily on cross-functional feedback, collaboration, and adaptability to drive continued innovation for our customers. We appreciate the feedback you provided and will look into ways to continuously improve our onboarding experience. We wish you the very best in your next role and hope you find a great fit ahead!

Pros

- Clear Goals and High Levels of Autonomy - Supportive Teammates - Healthy and Open Communication - Very Fast-Moving

Cons

- Autonomy to define what you work on and how to achieve your goals may be too unstructured for some people. - It's very hard changing a highly regulated industry like insurance and takes immense amounts of effort. - Goal/outcome-driven culture may have too high of a level of intensity for some people.

We’re so happy to hear that the autonomy, supportive teammates, and open communication have stood out to you. These are core to how we work and grow together. You’re absolutely right that this level of ownership and fast-paced, outcome-driven environment isn’t for everyone. It can be intense at times, especially given the complexity of transforming a highly regulated industry like insurance. That said, it’s also what makes our work at Kin both challenging and rewarding... Thank you for being part of it!
