We're sorry the experience felt that way overall — and we appreciate you highlighting what did work, like the people and compensation. Leadership challenges and being stretched thin are real issues. We're actively working to improve how we operate as a team, and feedback like this helps us see where we need to do better.

Pros

- Comprehensive training (self-paced and classroom) - Pay/benefits were slightly above average - Amazing knowledge base/resource center

Cons

- Toxic management, especially evident during “CERT” (or ramp up), who takes care of themselves while dismissing concerns - Gaslighting and redirecting of complaints about treatment of fellow training members - On the surface, very tech-forward and “accepting” but ultimately fast-paced and unforgiving (i.e. attendance/points policy)

Pros

They offer a good leave package and I have a manager that doesn't micromanage. I get the support I need to be successful. The sales goals are realistic and obtainable. I've been here for 2+ years, and I will stay as long as they have me.

Cons

Don't really have any complaints.

Pros

Great co-workers is the only good thing about this department.

Cons

This department is deeply dysfunctional on a management level. Leadership is ineffective and the current director appears disconnected from ongoing issues while consistently avoiding holding managers accountable. Appreciation is rare with only one manager demonstrating genuine respect for employees. Internal employees are largely treated as an afterthought unless they are clearly favored or avoid challenging leadership in any way. Favoritism is obvious and pervasive. Concerns and complaints have been raised yet no meaningful action has followed. Recent hiring practices have further reinforced this pattern. The last several hires and postings have all been external with no advancement or growth opportunities offered to internal employees. One recent hire appeared to be directly selected by a manager raising concerns about fairness for both internal staff and external applicants. There is a clear lack of professionalism and respect. Negative commentary about underwriting associates and underwriters occurs frequently despite leadership seeming unaware that these conversations and statements are visible and widely noticed. The result is a demoralizing environment where employees feel undervalued and stuck with no clear path forward. Anyone considering joining this department should seriously reconsider as upward mobility appears extremely limited.

Management doesn't seem to recognize the issues in the department

Pros

coworkers, working from home, good hours

Cons

Management doesn't seem to have a clue about their employees. They make questionable changes constantly to the department, with little to no explanation or word to the team. Year end reviews just finished and the "promotions" from some seem very lateral as it is essentially a title change to get rid of the previous title, but it gets played off as a big deal. The yearly raise for the promotion was barely more than a previous non promotional year which in itself was barely cost of living. This year with increased costs all around in the country and increased health insurance costs, get $99 more for a raise than last year won't cut it.

Hearing this is tough — feeling out of the loop on changes and not having real career conversations are things that matter, and it sounds like we've missed the mark there for you. If you've got more to share, AllVoices is there for exactly this — it's anonymous and genuinely influences how we approach these things.

Pros

Work from home and getting to meet new people from your training class

Cons

Worst experience in a training environment I’ve ever had. Unprofessional trainers and management using scare tactics don’t make for a very positive environment. Made me doubt my decision to move over to this company from day one and never got much better from there. Constant fear of losing one’s job and underwriting makes it impossible to write business. Having years of successful sales experience in various industries- very disappointed. Toxic, immature management.
