      Was a great company long ago - not so great now

      Pros

      Managers used to be able to make a difference - now the company has so much junk that is mandated ( tons of stuff on sidewalk - aisles so full of displays that you can't get down them ). Managers have no control over how the store looks now.

      Cons

      There is very little that is good. All there is now is cons. Poor pay - poor performance - very little concern how customers veiw the store. Making people stand in one line waiting for the cashier to call them to the register.

      Pros

      Good, hardworking people on the store level. Decent pay (but not for the hours).

      Cons

      unrealistic expectations. Managers work sixty to seventy hours a week, and that is before the christmas season. In the Atlanta district you are treated like absolute garbage. Yelled at on the phone as well as on the sales floor in front of customers and other employees. Favoritism is rampant and destructive. If you complain your done. Look for another job.

      Pros

      The pros were: enjoyment gained from helping customers work on their various projects, the creative element, and appreciation from loyal, satisfied customers.

      Cons

      Working conditions were poor and included multiple OSHA violations. There was significant peer pressure not to complain. An honorable young man that I had trained was issued a warning for complaining on my behalf when he discovered his starting wage was higher than mine (a female who had 8 years experience, while he had none). He was disciplined for breaking the "no wage discussion" policy.
