Pros

Work from home, Not really anything else.

Cons

-Your schedule is set and usually consistent, but they can change it within a 2 hour window with no notice. -Very little room for growth -New job responsibilities are constantly being added when the job description was initially pitched as just customer tech support. I was added to support for multiple different ISPs. -Inadequte training for new processes, some were 1 hour and you're just tossed in to calls -The training team for OST is AWFUL, and honestly an HR nightmare. Too casual in a gross way. Frequently made sexual jokes, racial jokes, they spoke about their sex life, and was generally rude and unprofessional in the way they interacted with employees. It's wild that team has worked there for so long and has not been let go. -Pay is WAY too low for the amount of work expected, calls can be non stop with each call using a different program -No equipment provided, if you only have a laptop/one monitor this job will not be easy -Response time when reaching out to managers for help on calls can take a long time, meanwhile you're being scored on how much dead air there is in a call. -Very high turnover rate

Pros

Remote/ work from home; changing schedule is easy

Cons

The pay isn't worth getting yelled at by people who are frustrated with wait times. We're required to be on a call no less than 5-10 minutes and when we need help from someone on the team, no one is ever available. the training is only 2 weeks and we spent the 1st 3 days learning nothing, so jumping into work is confusing. Alot of times instead of getting help or a good answer from a higher up, we were always told to transfer the customer to a number that was always busy or never called them back. truly not a good company to work for unless youre desperate. I shouldnt get in trouble for going to the restroom, and if youre pregnant, they dont care, theyll still ask why you used the bathroom twice in an hour.

Pros

Onesupport pioneered work-at-home, so 2020 was almost entirely painless for them. their phone system is easy, so long as your conmection is consistent and hardwired. The specific software you will need depends on the contract, but if you have issues, they have their own internal tech support. Schedule is flexible, so long as you give two weeks notice to your boss. My training was two weeks, paid. While on the job, you will have access to a work chatroom where you ask more experienced employees for help and authorization. That authorization is required for most calls, so you can also ask then technical questions to be more efficient in the future. Most people in tech support are nerds and gamers, and if you want you can participate in chats, and they wont bother you if you dont.

Cons

Some of the big clients onesupport provides work for unabashedly rip their customers off. And when the service rips people off, they call you to complain. Most common sentiment from customers on one contract is “i would switch my service! If there were any alternatives”. The clients have unrealistic expectations for our metrics, and the metrics they prioritize and focus on change capriciously. You will primarily be doing emotional labor, not technical labor. The training does not fully prepare you for even half of what you will be doing, you have to learn on the job. I remember learning new things even the week the contract ended. 30 seconds between calls is not enough time to put in the required paperwork and also decompress from being yelled and screamed at, or from telling a disabled woman, who needs their service for medical reasons, that it will be until tomorrow before they can actually call their doctor. Emotional labor. My worst metric was break time, and i have no clue how some people made it through the whole day with no breaks whatsoever.

Pros

I absolutely LOVE working from home in my own personal space. I also love my team leader. She has truly always had my best interest at heart and has done such a great job guiding me through this, my first work at home position. She is very professional but also caring and treats us like human beings with feelings. I also love the open door policy the new CEO is adopting. He held a virtual town hall meeting last week just so we could all get together and talk directly to him. I have never had a CEO make himself so easily accessible and approachable. I have an immense amount of respect for Mr. Yang. OneSupport also provides a very in depth two to three week training class, plus another week or two of mentoring, so you feel at least somewhat confident when hitting the floor and taking your own calls. Also, every team leader, payroll, and even the CEO ALL started on the floor. OneSupport does all of their promoting from within the company, and I have a great deal of respect for them for that.

Cons

The only real con was my starting pay, but I moved up very quickly and have gotten 2 raises and two promotions within the last year. The phone does answer automatically so you don't have an option of whether or not you answer the phone, and you are expected to answer within 4 seconds and have about 20 seconds between calls on a busy day to reset and get ready for the next call to come in! I enjoy the fast pace so that really wasn't too much of an issue for me specifically.

Pros

Steady, FT work, was there for 2 1/2 years, all remote work from home, first contact was great, highly scripted, super busy, plenty of OT, when that contract wasnt renewed, I moved to another one, and that was like jumping into the pit of h3ll..................

Cons

Call center, depending on department, you either enjoy it or you hate it, last group I was in had call hold and handle times so low, (30 second hold and 5 min max) for customer calling about their bills - which requires a little time to look and research, there was no way to meet the call time metrics unless you were rude and didnt answer their questions, trainer for that dept called me names, said i was no good, chastised me in front of our entire training class, so much that another trainee said the traininer was being a jerk and they thought the trainer took it too far, but the dept I was in with Onesupport right before that? I was their top performer, trained new reps, coached others, frequently asked to do diff projects, so i went from doing great to being told how horrid i was..... when that first contract ended, the only one open ended up being terrible, so it just depends on what contract you are on and who your lead/trainers are.
