Pros

Great health insurance. Love my direct leader.

Cons

Outreach is showing its true colors since I was hired. Initially touting their dedication to provide holistic care to their employees so that we can show up and do our best work more often, they took away our mental health/rest days (which is how senior leaders proved this dedication–via email and mentioned in meetings) and replaced it with a subscription to Calm right before a RIF (intentional timing?). Their dedication now seems to squeeze as much from their employees as possible while causing us to lose our bearings because they continue to change our strategy and goals (multiple times a quarter, minimum). Most importantly, they've curated a culture of fear & trembling. As employees we do not feel safe asking senior leadership questions based on in the moment responses (temper tantrums) from senior leaders–mainly by Manny, the CEO–resulting in us asking via "anonymous" names. They've then switched meeting platforms so we can no longer ask questions live. To help create a "safer environment" to ask these questions, they created a bureaucratic process by which we can have our questions answered either during the meeting or afterwards. In reality, this seems like a PR stunt to make sure we don't see another senior leader outburst (at least those are honest).

Hard Work Didn't Pay Off

Pros

I enjoyed my teammates and grew as a result of my role.

Cons

I worked for Outreach for 18 months. During that time, we had four (!) layoffs. I bought it and worked my tail off, and was a highly successful member of my team. My manager told me he'd always have my back and that if I lost my job ever he'd write me a letter of reference and be supportive. I received the layoff email the day before I was laid off. My manager ignored my messages all day. After eighteen months of smoke the wind picked up and blew everything away - after I helped innovate the department, trained nearly my entire team, and saved the company a bunch of money. The thanks I received was a layoff.

Pros

None anymore. Outreach does have a history of being a great employer and reminiscing the past is nice.

Cons

Between putting the development of product features customers have asked for on-hold and refusing to fix bugs due to a political engineering project for years and and constant back to back layoffs leadership at Outreach has successfully allowed competition to catch up, encouraged or forced the departure of some of their most senior technical employees, and have obliterated company culture. Leadership has made it clear that they plan on offshoring most positions to help with Outreach's "path to profitability" as displayed with the recent moves to offshore nearly all of PDE to India. So now a lot of US based Support/CX employees are just waiting in limbo for their pink slip because it's inevitable. It's depressing and grim knowing what's coming.
