The company is like an empty suit. Looks good on the outside but not when you get inside.
Pros
There are a lot of smart people, several of who are willing to go the extra mile to help new employees learn the products and why a company would buy PROS software. There are good managers who take the time to foster growth in those who report to them. These are the exception. Inclusiveness and people first initiatives are good, but doesn't make up for other shortfalls.
Cons
PROS overtly tells employees, starting on their first day, to put 5 star ratings in here. "Forces" is too strong of a word, but not by much. Many feel pressured to do so, which is why there are so many 5 star reviews. Onboarding is terrible. If you don't come from a pricing background, or know pricing software, your chances of success and making meaningful income (in a sales role) are about zero. Most people in charge of onboarding do not have pricing or pricing software backgrounds, the results are what you'd expect. As previously stated in many other reviews, management forms clicks. If you're in then you're golden, regardless of performance. If you're not in your days are numbered, regardless of performance. This is seen at every level of the company including some C-Level departures in the last quarter of 2020 and into Q1 of 2021. Unpredictable and irrational leadership, at the highest levels, seems to be the norm. Management by clever phrases and taglines is not effective. Poor leadership and performance above the individual contributor level is constantly turned around and blamed on individuals. Management, particularly in the sales roles, always finds a scapegoat for poor performance. Don't even think of giving them feedback. Ever increasing micromanagement and sales reporting does not improve sales. It never has at any company selling any product or service. The path to advancement is a mystery, mainly because there isn't one. And when you show interest it isn't welcome from management... most managers have no idea what the path is or any sense of the criteria to get a promotion. HR will turn it's back on you and become pitbulls if you fall out of favor, or have a legitimate concern/complaint about your boss. Their main function is to protect senior management... which they do with vigor. It could be so much better. But since PROS has been around for 30+ years, and it isn't, that in itself is a Con. I do not have confidence PROS leadership can or will fix their challenges. Too many of them have gotten very wealthy by doing the same old thing... why change?
